NFL Playoffs: Wild Card Round Best Bets For Saturday

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars 8:15PM (ET)

The Chargers were dealt a pretty bad hand in being forced to travel across the country to face a Jaguars team that had the fortune of playing on Saturday last week. Jacksonville now has a pretty significant advantage in the rest department against a Los Angeles team that it beat by 28 at SoFi Stadium earlier in the season. Justin Herbert was out for the Chargers in that game, but will he make up that much of a difference — especially with this being a road game?

This one seems relatively straightforward to us, as we like the Jaguars offense to move the ball with ease against a Chargers defense that underperformed all year. Jacksonville also has an edge in the coaching department, as Doug Pederson is a Super Bowl champion while Brandon Staley is known for making some head-scratching decisions.

Los Angeles is also 0-6 against the spread in road games after having scored 25 or more points in back-to-back games over the last three seasons. The Chargers have lost those games by an average of 9.8 points per game.

PICK: Jaguars ML (+115 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

NFL Playoffs: Wild Card Round Best Bets For Sunday

Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills 1:00PM (ET)

The Dolphins ruled Tua Tagovailoa out for this game, so we're all going to have the pleasure of watching Skylar Thompson quarterbacking the Miami offense for another 60 minutes. Last week, that experienced resulted in the Dolphins scoring only 11 points against the New York Jets (with two coming on a meaningless safety in the final seconds), and it's hard to come up with reasons they'd score a lot more against the Bills. Buffalo was fourth in the league in defensive DVOA this season, while New York was right behind, in fifth.

As long as the Bills don't go scorched earth on offense, this game should easily stay Under the total. The cold weather should only help Under bettors, and the potential for this to turn into a blowout is also something to consider. The Bills won't force Josh Allen to air it out anymore than he needs to.

PICK: Under 43.5 (-110 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

New York Giants vs. Minnesota Vikings 4:25PM (ET)

The Giants and Vikings had only 23 points going into the fourth quarter of their matchup a few weeks ago, but they still ended up combining to score 51 points. Now, we like them to combine to score at least 49 points in the Wild Card Round, and we don't think they'll leave it all to the final 15 minutes this time.

This year, Minnesota was eighth in the league in points per game (24.9), so we like the Vikings' chances of shredding a Giants defense that was just 29th in the league in defensive DVOA in 2022. However, the Vikings were just 27th in that metric themselves, so the Giants should be able to get theirs — even with one of the worst groups of wide receivers in the NFL.

Postseason football does tend to be a bit lower in scoring, but it's hard to see that applying to this game. These are just not the types of teams to play a gritty, sloppy game against one another.

PICK: Over 48 (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
