We’ll open up our look at the 2024 MLB season the only way that makes sense – the best value bets to win the World Series. The Texas Rangers claimed the title in 2023 and DimersBOT correctly pointed out they were mispriced in the futures market several times throughout the season.

Atlanta Braves to win the World Series (+600)

Top teams in the regular season experiencing early playoff exits was a theme across the major sports last year – the record-setting Bruins in the NHL, the No. 1 seed Milwaukee bucks in the NBA and the Atlanta Braves who were bounced from the NLDS in four games.

They’ll surely be back with a vengeance this year and with all their key pieces still intact. They’ll have one of the most potent offenses in baseball headlines by Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson and Austin Riley, as well as a top-tier pitching staff with the likes of Max Fried, Spencer Strider and Bryce Elder. Plus, they added veteran Chris Sale in the offseason and young power bat with potential, Jarred Kelenic for some juice at the bottom of the order.

Atlanta, DimersBOT’s favorite to win the World Series, just needs to get out of their own way and there’s no reason they can’t find themselves in an NLCS Sho-down with the Dodgers and Shohei Ohtani. The Braves get a massive 20.9% probability from our model to win the World Series, coming in at +600 on BetMGM sportsbook. Those odds imply just a 14.3% chance, while DimersBOT says they shouldn’t be any longer than +420 at best.

Texas Rangers to Win the World Series (+1400)

Everything is bigger in Texas and back-to-back World Series titles is about as big as it gets. The Texas Rangers began to go all-in a few seasons ago when they made some massive acquisitions, from 2B Marcus Semien to SS Corey Seagerand their mid-season trade deal for future Hall-of-Famer Max Scherzer. Further powered by in-house talent Adolis Garcia and rookie-of-the-year contender Josh Jung, this team is stacked top to bottom.

It all paid off when they hoisted the Commissioner’s Trophy at the culmination of last season and now they’ll try to beat one of the toughest championship hangovers in pro sports. It wasn’t an easy road; the Rangers lost control of the AL West and ultimately settled for a Wild Card appearance, but in the end, that didn’t matter.

They opened the playoffs with seven straight wins and lost just four games total in the postseason. Their offseason was fairly quiet, losing some pitching in Jordan Montgomery, Martin Perez and closer Aroldis Chapman, but if they can get solid work from Scherer and Jacob deGrom when he returns, they’ll be pretty set.

As far as DimersBOT is concerned, the Rangers get the third-highest World Series probability at 9.7%, trailing only the Dodgers and aforementioned Braves. At DraftKings, you’ll find Texas at +1400, making them a great value play here. +1400 implies a 6.7% probability, and while that’s not as large as the gap for the Braves, it’s the difference between +1400 and +900, which our model says they should be.
