Why You Need to Parlay Your Next Bets with Shohei Ohtani to Win American League MVP

Betting on futures is one of our favorite things to do. The hunt for value, the long-term payoff at the end and the satisfaction of knowing you jumped on a winning bet way early is as fun as it gets in sports betting. It’s even more rewarding when you can use those futures to gain an extra edge in an entirely different market. That’s why you no matter what it is, you need to parlay your next wager with Shohei Ohtani to win MLB’s American League MVP award.

Unless you avoid baseball like the plague, you know why Shohei Ohtani is so impressive. The first true two-way player that baseball has seen since the days of Babe Ruth, Ohtani is both the Angels’ ace starting pitcher *and* their superstar hitter. Elite pitching and top-of-the-league power at the plate combine to make Shohei Ohtani the most incredible baseball player we’ve seen grace the diamond in our lifetimes.

He won Rookie of the Year in 2018 before unanimously winning the 2021 AL MVP award as just the third pitcher in 50 years to do so. He led the league in Wins Above Replacement (WAR), a metric he ranks third in this year and the way he performs, that will only rise.

Shohei Ohtani is as big of a lock to win the AL MVP as you may ever see in betting while sitting on the board at -140. It’s only the beginning of June and he is a minus-odds favorite to win a full-season award! The only realistic way he doesn’t win is by way of injury, which is a risk you take with every bet you place.

Ohtani is tied for the second-most home runs as a hitter and the third-most strikeouts as a pitcher in the American League. It took Aaron Judge surpassing Roger Maris’ American League single-season home run record to edge out Ohtani for MVP last year. In fact, over the past two years, only two players have even received a first-place vote for AL MVP: Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani.

PLAYER ODDS
Shohei Ohtani -145
Aaron Judge +550
Yordan Alvarez +2500
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. +3000
Marcus Semien +3000

Ohtani’s commanding lead in the AL MVP race looks even more impressive with a closer look at the odds table. Aaron Judge, who is having a season with an eerily similar pace to last year's MVP run, sits a healthy bit behind Ohtani at +550. Beyond him, your next three players are at 20/1 or longer odds. The books are so locked in on Ohtani that they’re giving you insane value on players who would be much shorter if they didn’t have to contend with the two-way phenomenon that is Shohei Ohtani.

For further evidence of how likely Ohtani is to win AL MVP, look no further than FanDuel’s awards market:

On his own, Ohtani is -145 to win on FanDuel. Even condensing the entire field into a two-way market, his odds see nominal movement and the entire AL field is still plus-money at +114.

Baseball writers are simply enamored with Shohei Ohtani and they’re the ones who vote on the awards. As long as he remains healthy, they will vote for him this year.

Three Reasons to Parlay with Ohtani to Win MVP

  • Parlay booster: You can get a better price on your regular straight wagers. Let’s say you see a bet that you love but you hate the odds. Maybe you’re all-in on the Nuggets to win Game 3 but don’t want to pay the -142 price. Slap the Nuggets moneyline into a parlay with Shohei to win MVP and you’ve suddenly got yourself +187. Turn the Chiefs' Super Bowl odds from +600 into +1087. The options are abundant.
  • Bankroll boost: You’ll get a nice payday when the awards are announced in November. Keep in mind, if you go this route, you are making a long-term investment. Since the MLB awards aren’t revealed until after the conclusion of the World Series, you won’t see the fruits of your wager until then. But you’ll suddenly see an influx of winning tickets where your previous legs hit all into your bankroll if Ohtani secures the award.

  • Hedge opportunities: Hedging is a way to bet against your original wager if things change. Once you make a parlay or two with Ohtani to win the AL MVP, you’ll need to monitor the market throughout the season. Depending on the value you have invested and the total odds of any of your Ohtani Parlays, you can bet on players like Aaron Judge, Yordan Alvarez and Marcus Semien to win AL MVP. Should Ohtani sustain an injury or Aaron Judge suddenly finds himself on pace to break Barry Bonds’ home run record, you’ll still be able to secure a payday.

Keep in mind that this is a fun way to get a little extra payout in your bets or to get some long-run entertainment value out of holding a few tickets down the line. It’s not guaranteed betting advice and of course, anything can happen. As with all betting, you shouldn’t invest more than you can afford to lose and it’s important to remember that you’ll be floating a chunk of your bankroll for the long haul. But if you’re a believe it the Angels’ superstar, then we encourage you to #ParlayItWithShohei.

Enjoy gambling responsibly. Treat it as entertainment, not a way to make money and only gamble with funds you can afford to lose. Know when to stop and seek support if needed. Remember, gambling should be a fun and enjoyable experience. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, crisis counseling and referral services can be accessed by calling 1-800-GAMBLER.
