Why Kevin Durant Will Go Over His Points Prop In Game 2 Tonight

Game 2 of the Nets vs. Celtics playoffs matchup tips off at 7:00PM ET tonight, and we're looking at Kevin Durant to bounce back from a poor shooting night on Sunday.

Durant posted 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in Game 1, which was way down on his recent (and general) standard.

On top of that, it was a rare off shooting night for the Slim Reaper, with the 2x Finals MVP shooting at a rate of just 37.5% from the field, including going 1-5 from deep.

But now as we look ahead to Wednesday night's game, his prop lines (and in particular his points line) are looking very gettable.

Since the turn of the calendar year, KD has had five more games where he shot 40% or less from the field. It's fair to say he bounced back emphatically following each of those, take a look at these numbers:

  • Jan 5 @ Pacers: 39 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists (63.5% FG)
  • Mar 18 vs. Trail Blazers: 38, 6, 6 (73.3% FG)
  • Mar 29 vs. Pistons: 41, 11, 5 (60.9% FG)
  • Apr 6 vs. Knicks: 32, 10, 11 (50% FG)
  • Apr 12 vs. Cavaliers: 25, 5, 11 (56.3% FG)

Although none of these teams ended up making the playoffs, it's pretty clear that KD takes it upon himself to come out and perform after a poor night of shooting.

With that, our first suggested play is to take him OVER 29.5 points.

As well as his points totals (and shooting splits) going in the right direction after each of those five games, KD literally comes out next time as a man possessed, with per game averages of 8 rebounds and 8 assists.

Looking at our predictive analytics modelling for this game, it appears that DimersBOT is fully across that, projecting Durant for 33 points, 7 boards and 8 dimes tonight.

So, on top of the points play up above, we're also going to suggest sprinkling on a KD triple double, with odds sitting up around +1500 at the time of publishing.

Some other lines that look good for KD in this bounce back game are:

  • Durant o6.5 assists (+122)
  • Durant o7.5 rebounds (-115)
  • Durant o2.5 threes (+124)
