2022 NBA Playoffs: Why DeMar DeRozan is the man for the Chicago Bulls in Game 5 against Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night

The Chicago Bulls will be without Zach LaVine tonight as they look to save their season against the reigning champs in Milwaukee.

MORE: Projected Bulls vs. Bucks Game 5 box score

With LaVine out for the Bulls due to COVID protocols, the expectation is that the scoring responsibility will fall even heavier on DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic.

Plus with their seasons on the line, we can expect some high minutes from these guys, with DeMar in particular a chance to play almost every minute tonight, just as Kevin Durant (47 of 48 mins) did for the Nets in their Game 4 loss to the Celtics.

DeRozan spent some of this season in MVP conversations, in particular when he went on a hot run earlier in 2022 with Zach LaVine once again on the sidelines.

In 14 games without LaVine this season, DeRozan averaged a monstrous 33.9 points per game, as opposed to (a still impressive) 26.3 when taking the court alongside his partner in crime.

These numbers without LaVine spell very good things for prop bettors, with DimersBOT projecting DeRozan for 33 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in Game 5.
