Weekend Soccer Best Bets From Premier League And Around The World: October 29 & 30

Well, it looks like Sam is going to change courses again. In almost two years at Dimers, I’ve probably gone through six different iterations of how I write my articles. At first, it was just one weekly mess of everything and anything that was so unwieldy that Dimers couldn’t even believe I’d send something so disastrous. From there, I’ve shifted with the times as sports come and go or as the needs of the company change, basically making me a hybrid Prospector/Chameleon (note to self, trademark that idea for a future comic book series).

As you may have noticed, my three separate soccer articles are now being condensed into one single piece, which has come at the behest (yeah, I’ve got a little Shakespeare in me) of Dimers. Why? Because apparently not a lot of people care to click on European soccer articles filled with obscure leagues and unnecessary (but hilarious) jokes about teams that most people don’t recognize. Alas, we say goodbye to pages of bets on teams like Grasshoppers and Midtjylland, and welcome in a single article with a couple of Premier League bets and one Euro bet (that’s all they would give me, I’m like a child being forced to pick one toy).

With that, time to kick things off on the right note with a few winners. Game on!

Premier League Best Bets for Matchweek 14 - October 29 & 30

Brighton vs. Chelsea: Best Bet

Kickoff: Saturday, October 29 - 10:00AM ET

In the midst of the current soccer chaos, one of the ways that I’ve looked to make money is by fading teams who are caught up in the endless gauntlet of European fixtures. The logic is simple: teams forced to play twice as many games have to rotate more and have tired legs, which will cause them to struggle.

That said, “fade” can mean a number of different things and it doesn’t simply suggest betting on the other team to win. And, just like we did last week with Brighton, it’s time to bet both teams to score at -134.

This bet works for me on a number of levels. Chelsea had to fly to Austria this week and now travel again for this match, and that’s a lot of miles to handle. On top of that, Chelsea haven’t looked stellar this year defensively, and I think that Brighton should find one at home without much issue. If they can score at the Etihad, they can score in this match. On the other side, Chelsea’s offense has been better since Graham Potter arrived and they have enough talent to cause issues for the Seagulls. I don't expect they put up a large number, but one should be the minimum.

As far as history goes, these two sides have also played to 1-1 draws in four of their last six meetings, and BTTS has hit in five of those six. That makes both teams to score an advantageous spot, especially compared to any sort of Over.

Bet: Both Teams To Score (-134)

Manchester United vs. West Ham: Best Bet

Kickoff: Sunday, October 30 - 12:15PM ET

Speaking of teams weathered by playing too many games, here we have two clubs skulking around in the lower tier European competitions where trips to places like Cyprus and Moldova and Romania are all in the cards. Traveling across Europe is tough, traveling to remote places where it’s unclear if they have the internet or a functioning government is probably tougher (I’ve never been to any of those places, but it feels like a safe assumption).

And, a bit like our last pick, we’re going to “fade” both teams in the sense that I expect both to concede at least one, meaning we’re betting both teams to score again (that’s called efficiency, working the same angle for two bets. I’m that good). In all seriousness, both of these teams will be forced to rotate, particularly in the back line, which wreaks havoc on communication and formational consistency. And, while West Ham haven't scored particularly well this season, they’ve found some form in recent weeks which should help them break a United side who’ve had trouble keeping teams off the board.

At -142, the bet isn’t massively valuable, but it makes sense based on style of play and the numbers. In a thin Sunday slate, go a bit easier but still look to snag some profit here.

Bet: Both Teams To Score (-142)

La Liga Best Bet - October 29

Valencia vs. Barcelona: Best Bet

Kickoff: Saturday, October 29 - 3:00PM ET

Well, I don’t make a lot of definitive statements, but I’m pretty sure this is a game the casual bettor can handle. If you don't know who Barcelona is, well, maybe you shouldn't be betting on soccer.

I also chose this match, aside from it’s value, because it allows me to mention the fact that Barca dropped out of the UCL on Wednesday to the joy of almost every casual fan (I can find value and be spiteful at the same time). It’s sort of odd to say because I used to enjoy watching the Catalans and I traditionally liked them better than Real, but with all the financial crap going on and the way they’ve treated their players, this feels a bit karmic and I’m not upset about their failures one bit.

As for the game, I still think you have to put your chips on Barca. They’ve been extremely good in the league this year, averaging over 2.5 goals per game, and their focus will now be squarely on the La Liga Title. So, with that in mind, we go back to a bet I introduced last week in TT 1H Over 0.5 + TT Over 1.5 which is a line they hit with a fair amount of consistency and only requires two goals. Valencia aren’t a bad side by any means, but they’ll be largely outclassed here and Barca will expose them at the back with the disgusting amount of talent they have at the attacking positions. And, with a price of just -105, this bet has some great value (it hit for us 18 minutes into the match last weekend). I’ll gladly run it back.

Bet: Barcelona 1H TT Over 0.5 + TT Over 1.5 (-105)
