Top MLB Betting Trends for Wednesday, August 16
1. Andrew Knizner (STL) To Record a Hit
Frequency: 9 of last 10 games
Odds: -190
We (and DimersBOT) love our catcher props in this column and it's because their lines are so often a much better price than other hot hitters. Occasionally we'll run into lineup issues when we look early with catchers not being everyday players but it's hard to ignore value when you get it and that's what we see here. Knizer has a hit in nine of ten games and is hitting approximately .350 in his last 50 ABs. He'll face the A's Paul Blackburn who allows a .286 average to opposing righthanded hitters.
2. Chas McCormick (HOU) To Record a Hit
Frequency: 11 of last 15 games
Odds: -145
It's not as hot of a trend as we like, but within that stretch is a nice little six-game hit streak that Chas McCormick finds himself on. Since June, he's raised his average from .209 to .284. That's absolute rake material. Today he's up against Marlins southpaw Jesus Luzardo who's given up at least four hits in his last seven starts and at least six in three-straight. McCormick has an elite .341 batting average against lefthanded pitching
3. Corey Seager (TEX) To Record an RBI
Frequency: 7 of last 12 games
Odds: +145
Last up is Texas hammer Corey Seager, who has been absolutely obliterating the ball lately. In fact, every game he's picked up an RBI in this span, he's cranked a home run, so if you're feeling really spicy, you can take this parlay up a notch with his HR prop. We're happy to take the +145 that's a value play on its own though, as Seager will face the Angels' Reid Detmers who has a 5.27 ERA and has given up seven earned runs in back-to-back starts.
