Top MLB Betting Trends for Thursday, August 17

1. MJ Melendez (KC) To Record a Hit

Frequency: 9 of last 10 games
Odds: -195

One of the hottest hitters in the Majors will take the field for the Royals today when MJ Melendez looks to build on his current run of hits in nine of his last 10 games. Melendez will face Seattle's George Kirby, and it is the first face-off of their careers. Advantage: Melendez, given how on fire the Royals slugger currently is. At -195 odds, there is some juice here, but it's worth the squeeze.

2. Mookie Betts (LAD) To Record a Hit

Frequency: 20 of last 21 games
Odds: -225

Next up is Mookie Betts, who simply cannot be stopped right now, and this run of hot form is going for nearly a month now. Betts has recorded a hit in 20 of his last 21 games. Add to that tonight that he is facing Corbin Burnes, and Betts has a positive history there. Betts is hitting .333 with one hit in three at-bats. We fully expect Betts to capitalize tonight and continue his streak of great play.

3. Jake Cronenworth (SD) To Record a Hit

Frequency: 15 of last 18 games
Odds: -159

Last but certainly not least, we are turning to the Padres where we find Jake Cronenworth. Cronenworth matches up with Zac Gallen, and of all the hitters on tonight's slate, this is one of the most familiar matchups. Cronenworth has 22 career at-bats against Gallen, resulting in six hits and a .273 batting average. We expect Cronenworth to get plenty of chances tonight, and with hits in 15 of his last 18 games, this streak is more than likely to continue.

Remember to gamble responsibly and set limits on your betting activities. It's important to approach sports betting as a form of entertainment, rather than relying on it for financial gain. Set a budget for yourself and stick to it, and never bet more than you can afford to lose.
