Top MLB Betting Trends for Sunday, August 20

1. Brandon Belt (TOR) To Record a Hit

Frequency: 9 of last 11 games
Odds: -115

Anytime you get -115 odds on a hitter with a hot streak of the current form that Belt has right now, it's a must-take. Belt has a hit in nine of his last 11 games, and at the heart of an explosive Toronto lineup, he is always involved with the bat. Today he faces Cincinnati's Hunter Greene for the first time in their careers. Advantage: the hot hitter. We're adding Belt to our trends parlay without hesitation for Sunday.

2. Bobby Witt Jr. (KC) To Record an RBI

Frequency: 13 of last 20 games
Odds: +180

If you haven't been betting Bobby Witt Jr. over the last month, you've been late to the party. Witt is one of the most fun players in all of Major League Baseball, and he has quickly emerged as an All-Star caliber slugger. We would be dumb not to include Witt Jr. today against the Cubs, and our favorite way to play him is to drive in a run at +180 odds, which he has done successfully in 13 of his last 20 games.

3. Pete Alonso (NYM) To Hit a HR

Frequency: 6 of last 13 games
Odds: +375

Last but certainly not least is the explosive Pete Alonso. Any way you look at today's matchup for Pete, you find that he's one of the smartest plays you can make. First of all, Alonso is the hottest hitter in all of baseball. With homers in six of his last 13 games, he's simply unstoppable right now. Add to it that he faces Dakota Hudson, who Alonso has destroyed historically with hits in three of seven at-bats and one homer, and it makes it a must-bet. Add it to our trends parlay to juice up the odds!

Remember to gamble responsibly and set limits on your betting activities. It's important to approach sports betting as a form of entertainment, rather than relying on it for financial gain. Set a budget for yourself and stick to it, and never bet more than you can afford to lose. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, crisis counseling and referral services can be accessed by calling 1-800-GAMBLER.
