Top MLB Betting Trends for Saturday, August 12
1. Codey Bellinger (CHC) To Record a Hit
Frequency: 11 of last 12 games
Odds: -215
Anytime you can get any value on the player with the fourth-best batting average in all of MLB, it's hard to pass up. Cody Bellinger has picked up a hit in 11 of his last 12 games, with a hitless Wednesday the only thing between him and a 12-game streak. That was just his fifth game without a hit since *checks notes* June 21. He faces the Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt, who allows a .278 batting average to left-handed hitters and Belli has one home run in three plate appearances vs. Bassitt.
2. Wilmer Flores (SF) To Record a Hit
Frequency: 9 of last 12 games
Odds: -205
Wilmer Flores is hitting .302 so far this season, which is on pace to be the second-best mark of his career. He is coming off back-to-back nights without a hit, but he was cruising before that, with just four hitless games in July. He gets a great matchup to get back into a groove as he faces the Rangers' Andrew Heaney. Flores has a .417 batting average in 13 plate appearances vs. Heaney, picking up five hits with a home run. Heaney has allowed at least four hits in every start but two dating back to mid-April.
3. Nick Castellanos (PHI) to Record an RBI
Frequency: 7 of last 11 games
Odds: +180
Nick Castellanos is on a 12-game hitting streak, picking up 13 RBI in that span. He's nabbed at least one in three-straight contests and has done it with six home runs over his streak as well. He's one of baseball's most productive offensive players right now and has collected over 50 of his 73 RBI this season off right-handed pitchers like Pablo Lopez who will toe the rubber for the Twins today.
