Top MLB Betting Trends for Monday, August 21
1. Jake Burger (MIA) To Record a Hit
Frequency: 11 of last 11 games
Odds: -190
Jake Burger is absolutely loving his new home in Miami. Maybe it's the weather or the fact that he's playing on a team that looks like it's actually trying to win games, but no matter the reason, he's been raking. After being traded from the White Sox to the Marlins, he's picked up a hit in 14 of his 17 games for a total of 23 hits while batting .359. He's on an 11-game hit streak and we're still getting his odds at less than -200. That's incredibly rare to see for a guy who's as hot as the Miami weather, so we're not going to shy away from it.
2. MJ Melendez (KC) To Record a Hit
Frequency: 13 of last 14 games
Odds: -200
MJ Melendez has slashed his way to a .324 average in the month of August, picking up 23 total hits and five multi-hit games this month. Pitchers are having a difficult time getting Melendez to cool off and that's unlikely to change tonight as he faces the Athletics. Paul Blackburn (RHP) will start for the A's and allows a .301 average to lefthanded hitters like Melendez. Furthermore, Oakland's bullpen has allowed the most hits in MLB this year with 524. Melendez almost always sees at least 4 AB so we should see plenty of chances.
3. Alex Bregman (HOU) to Record an RBI
Frequency: 7 of last 11 games
Odds: +190
For our final trend, we find that Alex Bregman has driven home a run in 7 of his last 11 games, including four of his last five. He's got 81 on the year, good for 12th-most in MLB. Though Bregman hasn't hit as well against lefties this season, he owns a .281 batting average in 33 plate appearances vs. James Paxton (LHP) who will start for the Red Sox tonight. Paxton has allowed at least 2 ER in five of his last seven starts and Boston's bullpen owns a 4.09 ERA.
Remember to gamble responsibly and set limits on your betting activities. It's important to approach sports betting as a form of entertainment, rather than relying on it for financial gain.
