Top MLB Betting Trends for Friday, August 11
1. Jose Altuve (HOU) To Record a Hit
Frequency: 12 of last 12 games
Odds: -250
Is there any better way to get started than with a 12-game hit streak for a guy who has a .300 batting average through 12 PAs against tonight's opposing starter? If there is, we haven't found it. Jose Altuve has a scorching hot bat right now, picking up a total of 21 hits in his last 12 games. He's hitting .400 in the month of August, with his season average up to .305. He's been great in his matchups with Angels' starter Reid Detmers, so let's lock him in.
2. Ryan Mountcastle (BAL) To Record a Hit
Frequency: 12 of last 12 games
Odds: -200
Oh, you wanted another 12-game hit streak? No problem! Grab Ryan Mountcastle to pick up a hit, something he's done 19 times over this span and in 16 of his last 17 games. He is significantly better against lefties, but he'll face Mariners' righthander Luis Castillo tonight. Still, he's faced more than a few righties over the course of his hot streak so we're not putting too much stock in that tonight for a guy who's hitting .484 in August.
3. Adley Rutschman (BAL) to Record an RBI
Frequency: 8 of last 10 games
Odds: +245
It's not a 12-game hit streak, but it is one of baseball's best offensive players over the past couple of weeks. Sticking with the Orioles, we take another young talent in star catcher Adley Rutschman to drive one home against the Mariners. The Orioles are rolling, due in large part to Rutschman's offensive production. He hits .266 off righties and .304 off lefties and is a switch-hitter. All we need is someone on base ahead of Rutschman and we've got a great chance for him to stay hot tonight.
