Jon Rahm Is the Safe Bet

While it was a shaky start for the Spaniard with a double bogey on the first hole, Rahm steadied and was in classic form to shoot a seven-under 65 to take an equal share of the lead with Viktor Hovland. If the 28-year-old can start strong on Saturday, in a day that may be impacted by heavy rain, Rahm has the potential to run away with it, with our model rating him as far and away the most likely to win the tournament at a probability of 28.9%. While his +350 odds with DraftKings Sportsbook may not look that appealing to bettors, when you match this up against our probabilities, which comes with implied odds of +245, taking Rahm to win at +350 is actually a smart bet.

Don't Discount Hovland

Despite getting his share of the lead after Thursday, the 'books still aren't entirely convinced that Victor Hovland can maintain his play throughout the weekend. The man from Denmark is ranked at some juicy odds of +1100 with DraftKings currently, compared with our probability rating of 14.9% to win the tournament, equating to implied odds of +571. There's nothing like being out in front, and our data model is liking Hovland to go on with it.

Schauffele Represents Major Value

After heading into the clubhouse at four-under and just three strokes off the pace, Xander Schauffele could be a man to watch over the coming days. While he might be tied for sixth currently on the leaderboard, our model thinks he is deserving of a lot more, ranking him as our fourth-most likely guy to capture the green jacket, with a probability of 5.4% to win the tournament, equating to implied odds of +1751, indicating some major value compared with the current odds available with him with the sportsbooks of +2400. Schauffele has never won a major, but he knows all about Augusta having finished second here in 2019. He's a big time player capable of a big time result.
