Should've Bet That: Looking Back at Week 5 Bets You May Have Missed

We look back through the bets that you might have missed from NFL Week 5 to determine whether they're a sign of things to come, or only a fluke. The team on the Dimers show 'Should've Bet That' also dissects a week in which we rue a number of 'what might have been?' moments.

If you’re looking to bet on the NFL, then you should consider signing up with FanDuel Sportsbook ➡️ here ⬅️ as you can make a risk-free bet of up to $1,000. You know you’ll be on the couch watching the games anyway, so why not make a big play using house money for this weekend's football games?

Watch Episode 5 of Should've Bet That below:

The Bet: Devin Duvernay Over 35.5 receiving yards

We start with Sunday Night Football with the Ravens getting the edge over their interdivisional rival in the Bengals with a last second field goal from Justin Tucker — but it was Devin Duvernay who caught our attention this week, as he filled in as WR1 with Rashod Bateman out injured.

Some props do need to go to Prop or Chop’s Jerry on this one, as he identified that this line was way too low for Duvernay, who cashed his prop midway through the second quarter and finished with 54 receiving yards.

That’s actually the fourth time this season he’s hit 40+ yards. It may be smart to look at him in Week 6 against the Giants.

The Bet: Tyler Lockett anytime TD +250, DK Metcalf anytime TD +220

Geno Smith was in the thick of it again this week, hitting his passing yards prop for the third week in a row and in the process linking up with his two marquee wide receivers in Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf.

Both guys scored touchdowns at plus-money odds (Lockett +250, Metcalf +220). With the Seahawks moving their way into the top 10 for passing yards per game, plus a matchup next week against the Cardinals who rank in the top five worst teams for points allowed, we could definitely see another big game coming from Lockett and DK.

The Bet: Cowboys Defense first touchdown +4000

The Cowboys made a statement with a win over the world champions on Sunday, but if you’ve been watching the Rams over the first month of the season you know that they’re a shell of the team that won the Super Bowl in February.

This team is already in a period of transition seemingly, especially with the O-Line. Matthew Stafford was sacked seven times against the 49ers in Week 4 — so it seems so obvious now that the Cowboys defense would be trying to pressure him straight out of the gate — and that’s exactly what happened with a sack leading to the first touchdown of the game from the Dallas defense.

While we can’t expect the defense to score the first touchdown of every game, there may be value in betting defenses that are facing the Rams to capitalize and find the end zone.
