Sanderson Farms Championship: Preview, Picks, Bets and Plays

The new golf season is picking up pace and with some big events coming up this month, many of the top players are beginning to show up on the tour again.

This week’s Sanderson Farms Championships in Mississippi will see a host of the world’s best young talent, along with some vets, competing as they look to grab some early points in the new FedEx Cup season.

FREE-TO-PLAY: Win $12k on the NBA Finals

With so many rising players in the field, there’s value to be found across the board, so let’s get into our winner picks as well as some prop bets including Top 10 finish and head-to-head.

Check ‘em out👇

🏌️‍♂️Outright winner picks

🔥Top chance:

Scottie Scheffler (+1000*)

Bet $10, win $100

The favorite for the tournament, and for very good reason. Scheffler is experiencing  a meteoric rise right before our eyes, winning the 2019 Korn Ferry Player of the Year, followed by the 2020 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.

Scheffler is yet to win on the PGA Tour but that first dub is certainly not far away. Having won twice on the Korn Ferry as well as finishing T4 in this year’s PGA Championship, the 24 year-old will be keen to get off the mark sooner rather than later.

+1000 odds are decent considering the players around him, but if you’re looking for something juicier, you can get him at around +2800 (28-1) to be leading after Round One.

If you're keen on Scottie, a good saver is to also take him to finish Top 10, which you can get boosted to +190 with PointsBet.

💰 Value Pick:

Zach Johnson (+3000*)

Bet $10, win $300

ZJ is one of the most experienced players in the field this week, with 12 PGA Tour wins to his name, including two majors. With so many up and comers in the field, there’s a serious chance that a cool head could prove the difference coming down the stretch on Sunday.

Johnson hasn’t won a tournament since the 2015 Open Championship, which he would no doubt love to change. At +3000 (30-1), he is extremely hard to look past as a value proposition.

🔮 Outsider:

Kristoffer Ventura (+8000*)

Bet $10, win $800

Another young golfer yet to break through for their first win on the PGA Tour, Ventura won twice on the Korn Ferry in 2019. The 25 year-old Norwegian (who was actually born in Mexico) has shown glimpses of being a future star and is another who will no doubt win in the near future.

Odds of +8000 (80-1) are crazy for someone of Ventura’s talent and if he’s able to string together some consistent golf, he will be right around the mark. You could also take him at a solid +400 to finish in the Top 20.
