Well, we’ve done it. We’ve reached the point in the year when Spurs have worn me down into a nub of a man with nothing left but pain and some half assed jokes to cover up that pain. With each passing season I come in hoping that I will finally be rewarded for my years of suffering, and every year this stupid fucking club stabs me in the throat and pisses on my dead body.

So, yeah, I don't really want to write about the Premier League right now. I dont even really want to think about it. Instead, I yearn for the peace of the summer when Spurs cannot hurt me only because they don’t play. But, here I am, writing and giving out picks for all of you because I care (theoretically, last week’s pick may imply otherwise). Let’s go bet on some soccer I guess - it cant get any worse than it already is for me.

Premier League Best Bets - Week 37

Fulham vs. Manchester City: Saturday, May 11 - 7:30 AM EST

Last week I got a bit crossed up betting on teams with nothing to play for. In theory, they should still be giving some effort and the results shouldnt be too wayward, but the reality is that it’s just safer to work with teams who have a genuine reason to give a shit. Enter, City.

With 3 games remaining and no UCL campaign affecting them, City are pretty much solely focused on winning the EPL title, which they can guarantee if they win their last 3 matches, each of which is VERY winnable (looking at you, Tottenham…). This match certainly qualifies, with Fulham having exactly zero reasons to care either about playing hard or about stopping City from winning the title. So, we KISS on this match and go with City Team Total at -120 for over 2.5.

When these two sides played in Manchester earlier in the season, City skull fucked them to the tune of 5-1. And, quite honestly, they should have free reign to do the same here. Fulham would have to really dig in and park the bus for 90 minutes to keep City out, and I dont see them being good enough or wanting it enough to make that commitment. The biggest danger is that this one fizzles to a 2-0 City win because neither cares enough to push things any further.

West Ham vs. Luton Town: Saturday, May 11 - 10:00 AM EST

Time to get frisky. Luton’s valiant effort to survive, aided by some Nottingham points deductions, is on life support. The Hatters are 3 points out with 2 matches remaining and a far worse goal difference, meaning they really have to make up a 4 point gap. And, if they’re going to do it, they really can’t afford anything but 3 points here.

West Ham, meanwhile, have pretty much given up based on their performance last weekend. Moyes is out the door and the locker room seems to have given up on him, making these last two matches essentially meaningless for players who know they’ll be seeing someone new at the helm next season. And, given that West Ham is already inclined towards offense and open matches, I don't think they’ll have any problem indulging Luton in some more attacking futbol.

The concern? Well, Luton are obviously not a very good side. They’ve managed to produce some solid results, but their defense is horrendous and this may just be too much for the tiny side. But, if nothing else, you can trust that they will go balls to the wall for 90 minutes to at least give this survival effort a shot. I think they find a way to two goals.
