Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Win Total Prediction, Computer Picks and Super Bowl Odds

The 2022 NFL season is firmly on the horizon and over the coming weeks the Dimers crew will break down the chances of each and every team, all vying for Super Bowl 57 glory in Glendale, Arizona come February.

Let's take a look at the key factors to consider when betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022.

The Pittsburgh Steelers no longer have legendary quarterback Ben Roethlisberger under center, but he was a shell of himself late in his career. Will Mitchell Trubisky — or rookie Kenny Pickett — lead this team back to the playoffs?

Pittsburgh Steelers Win Total Prediction, Computer Picks and Super Bowl Odds

Pittsburgh Steelers Win Total - 7.5

Coming off an uncharacteristic season that saw them rank last in the NFL in rushing defense (146.1 yard per game) and better than only three teams in rushing offense (93.1 yards per gaem), the Steelers still managed to sneak into the playoffs where they fell hard to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

The playoff defeat in Kansas City marked the end of an era in the Steel City. It was future Hall of Famer Roethlisberger’s career finale after 18 years as Pittsburgh’s franchise quarterback and he leaves with two Super Bowl rings and 418 touchdowns.

Former Bears second-overall pick Mitch Trubisky is the starter for the Steelers in Week 1 in Cincinnati. But Pittsburgh’s first-round choice, local product, Kenny Pickett, is waiting in the wings and maybe not for long.

Having a young do-it-all running back can only help the new quarterback. Despite mediocre play from the offensive line last season, Najee Harris was one of the best rookies in the NFL at any position. He had 318 touches, including 74 receptions, 1,200 yards rushing and 10 total touchdowns.

Athletic freak T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick anchor a defense that desperately needs improvement up front. Lineman Larry Ogunjobi can disrupt quarterbacks and contribute against the run. Linebacker Myles Jack is an under-the-radar signing that could prove sneaky good.

DimersBOT: In our model's 10,000 simulations of the upcoming NFL season, the Steelers averaged 6.87 wins per year. With that said, our lean is on the Under here. But bet against the Steelers at your own risk. They can generally be relied on to win a decent amount of games every year.

Pittsburgh Steelers X-Factor - Mitchell Trubisky, QB

Trubisky knows that he'll be on the hot seat from the moment he steps on the field against the Bengals. The Steelers didn't use a first-round pick on a quarterback that is viewed as pro-ready for no reason. They're expecting Pickett to get them back to being a perennial playoff contender immediately. Trubisky will, however, have the opportunity to hold him off if he is playing decent football and Pittsburgh is winning games.

While his career has certainly had some bad moments, he has also shown that he can be somewhat productive despite having toxic surroundings. Perhaps being in a stable environment will prove that he can be a solid starter in this league.

Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl 57 Chances

The Steelers have 16 consecutive .500 or better seasons under head coach Mike Tomlin. That doesn’t make them Super Bowl contenders, but challenging for a playoff spot can never be ruled out. As far as dropping any dimes on a Lombardi Trophy, it’s recommended you look elsewhere.

DimersBOT: Our model is really down on the Steelers so this isn't the place to bet on Pittsburgh. But if you want to take Tomlin's team to make the playoffs, we wouldn't hate that quite as much. Anything can happen if Trubisky proves to be a solid signing.
