Time for some golf betting!

The Travelers Championship did not disappoint this past weekend, battling through multiple weather delays, 18th hole protestors and some sweltering heat, we finally got to the thrilling playoff between near wire-to-wire leader Tom Kim and eventual champ, Scottie Scheffler.

He was the favorite, but Dimers correctly identified Scottie as a value play to win outright in our article, cashing him at +400.

This week, we're betting on the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club, it's sixth time hosting the event. Nearly all the big names are off for this one so we're really digging in to find our best value this weekend.

2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic Best Bets

Akshay Bhatia to Win (+2200 on BetMGM)

Fresh off a weekend he contended throughout, we're looking At Akshay Bhatia to do so once again in this week's softer field. Bhatia has had an up and down season with stretches of brilliance peppered by cuts and disappointing finishes.

He seems to have found some form, improving every week since his last missed cut at the Charls Schwab Challenge, all the way up to a T5 at the Travelers.

Bhatia is our second-highest projected winner behind Tom Kim with a 1% difference, but at a full +1000 better price. Our fair odds make him +2000, identifying a little bit of value in his best odds at DraftKings.

Alex Noren to Win (+2800 on BetMGM)

You'll notice a trend with our outright winner picks - they're all in our Top 5. But that's not the only reason we like them to win as they all get value, which is what we're after.

Swede Alex Noren has yet to win on the PGA TOUR but not for lack of trying. This year alone he's finished as high as 3rd at THE CJ CUP and T9 at the Cognizant Classic, to go along with four Top 20 finishes.

At 9th in Strokes Gained: Total, you'd like to see him excel, particularly in this field, which our model likes him to do. His 4.4% probability to win implies odds of +2200, giving us a substantial +600 edge in his odds.

Taylor Pendrith to Win (+3500 on BetMGM)

Our final pick to win is Taylor Pendrith to pick up his second victory of this season. The Canadian was in contention early last weekend as well before settling for a T23.

Pendrith is either missing the cut or playing quite well. In the 11 tournaments in which he made it to the weekend, he's only finished outside the Top 20 twice. That includes a win at the CJ CUP, a T9, two T10 and two T11 finishes. He's also only missed one cut in his past nine events.

At 3.6%, uor fair odds on Pendrith would be +2700,  much shorter than the +3500 we can get.

He's got a top-tier putter so if he can hit the greens, he's as dangerous as anyone this weekend.

Bud Cauley Top 10 (+1400 on DraftKings) & Matt Kuchar Top 10 (+1400 on DraftKings)

These next two are purely value plays - not necessarily strongly backed by our projections. 

Bud Cauley gets a 9.6% probability to finish Top 10 this weekend, making fair odds at +950. 

Just below him is Matt Kuchar with a near identical probability and the same odds.

Cauley's best finish is a T21 back in March our of eight events played this season, while Kuchar has a T17 a month ago at the Charles Schwab Challenge. 

BONUS PLAY - Lee Hodges Ladder (+260/+600/+1200/+7000) on DraftKings)

The final way we're looking at the Rocket Mortgage Classic is with a ladder play on Lee Hodges. He's having an okay year, with lots of solid results surrounded by missed cuts - three T12 finishes, and three other Top 30s are respectable results. He's in the midst of his best stretch too, having made five straight cuts, with two T12.

He's got value throughout (he should be just +4800 to win, for example) , so rather than highlight those individually, we'll look at a ladder play:

• To win 2.0% at +7000
• Top 5 Finish 9.2% at +1200
• Top 10 Finish  16.7% at +600
• Top 20 Finish 30.1% at +260

A simple way to bet this ladder would be in increments of $5, or whatever you're comfortable with. For example, you'd bet $5 on Hodges to win, $10 on him to finish top 5 and so on.
