Panthers vs. Golden Knights Game 1 Best Bets

Saturday, June 3, 2023 - 8:00PM EST

PICK: Under 6 (-130)

The Stanley Cup Final begins on Saturday night as the upstart Florida Panthers visit the Vegas Golden Knights in what should be a very entertaining series. The Panthers snuck into the playoffs in the last few days of the regular season and went through the top 3 seeds in the Eastern Conference as they defeated the record-setting Bruins in 7 and the Maple Leafs in 6 before sweeping the Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Knights have also had a remarkable run. Riddled with injuries all season, Vegas is currently on their 4th-string goalie as they defeated the Jets in 5 games, the Oilers in 6 and the Stars in 6 in the Western Conference Finals. Both of these teams have first-year coaches as both Bruce Cassidy and Paul Maurice have done fantastic jobs with their clubs to get to this point.

Both of these teams can score goals but both prefer to play tight defensively, which is what I think we'll see in this series. They're riding hot goaltenders with Florida netminder Sergei Bobrovsky, the current Conn Smythe Favorite, who is 11-2 in the playoffs with a 2.21 GAA and a .935 Save Percentage. Vegas netminder Adin Hill, who entered the playoffs in the Edmonton Series after an injury to Laurent Brossiot, is 7-3 in the playoffs with a 2.07 GAA and a .937 Save Percentage.

Goaltenders will play a significant role in this series. I am expecting a tight, low-scoring series but special teams can lead to goals as both teams' Penalty Kills are at the bottom of the playoff team rankings. Vegas has the third-worst kill at 63% and Florida has the fourth-worst at 71%. Because of this, I am going to pay some juice and bump the total to 6 in Game 1 and play the Under. I am expecting a tight start to this series as neither team will want to get into a run-and-gun style of game.

BET: Under 6 Goals (+102) with BetMGM.
