The Toronto Maple Leafs look to stave off elimination again as they host the Florida Panthers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Leafs are trying to do the unthinkable and overcome a 3-0 series deficit. They completed the first step by winning Game 4, by a 2-1 score. This was the most complete Maple Leaf effort of the entire postseason. After Ilya Samsonov went down with an injury in Game 3, Rookie goalie Joseph Woll stepped in.
In his first playoff start in Game 4, he stopped 24 of 25 shots. Many times when a backup goalie is put into the lineup the team in front of him tends to focus more on defensive responsibility and that is exactly what we saw from the Leafs in Game 4.
The pressure now turns to the Panthers, who had their six-game playoff win streak snapped, so it will be interesting to see how they respond. I am not sure if the Leafs will come back to win this series but I certainly don't think they are dead yet. I think Toronto can extend this series yet again, but I am going with an alternate puck line to reduce the juice on the money line.
I am also going to target Leafs' Captain John Tavares to eclipse his shot on goal prop. Tavares has registered at least 4 shots on goal in all 5 home playoff games this season while averaging 5 shots per game on 7.2 attempts per game. I like Toronto's captain to keep firing the puck in what is a must-win game. I'll gladly take this at plus money.
