Canadiens vs. Islanders Best Bets

Tuesday, April 11, 2023 - 10:00PM ET

PICK: Montreal Team Total Under 2 (-121)

PICK: Sorokin to record a shutout, .50U (+890)

Thanks to the Pittsburgh Penguins inability to beat the Chicago Blackhawks last night, the New York Islanders have been granted a golden opportunity to clinch a playoff spot tonight.

New York just needs a point to secure the East's final playoff spot and they have the opportunity to do it on home ice against the Montreal Canadiens. Illya Sorokin will get the nod in net tonight, and he has been just about unbeatable on home ice.

Sorokin sports a home record of 19-10-3 with a 1.90 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. Sorokin leads the league with 6 shutouts on the season, with 5 of them coming on home ice. Illya is coming off a home shutout of the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night and has allowed 2 goals or less in 7 of his last 8 home games.

He faces a Montreal team that averages 2.6 goals per game on the road, which is 6th least in the league. On the road, the Habs also average only 9.2 HDCF/60 mins, which is 4th least in the league. Sorokin has had 4 career starts against Montreal and he has allowed a total of 5 goals and does own a shutout against them.

These numbers don't lie, I am expecting a dialed in and focused Sorokin tonight, especially coming off a tough game on Monday night.

I'll roll with the Habs team total under 2, as I don't see them scoring 3 goals tonight and I'll also take a shot with a Sorokin shutout for a half unit. While it is tough to find value in this game, I think these two wagers hold a great deal of it. All Hail Soroking.

So bet the Montreal Team Total Under 2 (-121) and Sorokin to record a shutout (+890) with BetMGM.
