Golden Knights vs. Oilers Best Bets

Wednesday, May 3, 2023 - 9:30PM ET

PICK: Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights Over 6.5 (-115)
PICK: Leon Draisaitl Over 3.5 SOG (+120)

The Edmonton Oilers continue their Stanley Cup quest as they open their 2nd round playoff series in Las Vegas tonight at T-Mobile Arena. Edmonton is coming off a six-game series win against the Kings and the Knights are off a five-game win against the Winnipeg Jets. These division rivals played four exciting games in the regular season. The Oilers took 3 of the 4 meetings in which all the games went over the total with a combined 32 goals being scored, which is an 8-goal per-game average. I am expecting the same kind of outcome in this series as both teams possess plenty of firepower.

The key matchup in this series will be the Golden Knights' Penalty Kill against the Oilers' Power Play. Vegas was the least penalized team in the regular season but their Penalty Kill was 19th at 77%. That has continued into the playoffs as Vegas is the 2nd-least penalized team but their Penalty Kill is 2nd worst at 58%. The Oilers' Power Play does not need many chances to convert as they have a 56% conversion rate through the first round, by far the best among playoff teams. It will be interesting to see if Vegas can slow down the Oilers'' attack, but with the stars on each team and average to slightly above-average goaltenders, I see plenty of goals to start this series tonight.

I am also going to look to Edmonton forward Leon Draisaitl to eclipse his shot-on-goal prop, which is 3.5. Draisaitl is second on the Oilers in shots during these playoffs, averaging 4.2 shots per game on 7.2 attempts per game. Leon had a fantastic first round where he led the Oilers in goals, points and power play goals. Additionally, Leon hit this mark in each of the last 3 regular season meetings with the Knights, so I am looking at him to continue that trend tonight.

Bet Golden Knights-Oilers Over 6.5 (-115) and Leon Draisaitl Over 3.5 SOG (+120) with BetMGM.
