NFL Week 8 Best Bets and Picks - Early Games

Miami Dolphins vs. Detroit Lions - 1:00PM ET

The Lions are coming off of a solid defensive performance against the Cowboys last week, but they had a full bye week to prepare for that game. Now, we expect to see one of the NFL's worst defensive units struggling to get stops against a Dolphins team that can be explosive offensively when it gets cooking.

Detroit is allowing 32.3 points per game this season and only one team in the league is allowing more yards per game on the ground this year. With that said, it wouldn't be surprising if Raheem Mostert has a big game here. And once he starts to get going, things should be a lot easier for Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins passing game.

The Lions are also plenty capable of putting up a decent amount of points in this one. They have a top-10 scoring offense in the league and will have the benefit of playing at home. All in all, this just has shootout written all over it.

PICK: Over 51.5 (-110 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

Arizona Cardinals vs. Minnesota Vikings - 1:00PM ET

Over the last two seasons, the Cardinals are 8-1 against the spread when playing as road underdogs. They have won those games by an average of 9.5 points per game, and they're also facing a Vikings team that is just 4-10 against the spread as a home favorite over the last three seasons. It's an interesting clash of trends that makes it seem more likely Arizona will get the job done.

The Vikings also aren't getting a huge advantage in coming off their bye week here, as the Cardinals played the Thursday Night Football game last week. That means that Arizona has also had some extra time to heal up and prepare for this one.

The Cardinals have been up and down this season, but they seemingly figured things out last week. They ran all over the Saints defense and will now try to do some more of the same against the Vikings. Also, Arizona has the sixth-best rushing defense in the league when it comes to yards per game allowed, so the Cards should be able to do a decent job of limiting the damage that Dalvin Cook does.

PICK: Cardinals +4 (-107 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

NFL Week 8 Best Bets and Picks - Late Games

New York Giants vs. Seattle Seahawks - 4:25PM ET

In a meeting between two of the most surprising teams of the season, we're rolling with the home team. Seattle has one of the best crowds in the entire league, and it wouldn't be all that surprising if Daniel Jones struggled to play well because of it. He's a guy that has proven to get rattled somewhat easily.

The Seahawks defense has also played rather well in recent weeks, giving up just 32 total points over its last two games. Considering those games were against Kyler Murray's Cardinals and Justin Herbert's Chargers, that's a pretty good number. With that in mind, we can't rule out an impressive performance from Seattle against a New York offense that hasn't been as explosive as expected in its first year under Brian Daboll.

The reason the Giants have been winning games is because of a sixth-ranked scoring defense, but Geno Smith and the Seahawks offense have been pretty good at moving the ball against all defenses. We like their chances to do so here, and we also like that Seattle is 62-42 ATS at home under Pete Carroll.

PICK: Seahawks -3 (-107 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
