NFL Super Bowl LV Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Preview, Predictions and Bets
NFL Super Bowl predictions
When the 2020 NFL season got going, no one could be sure that we would even see Week 2, let alone a Super Bowl at the start of February featuring Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady.
Before we get into our suggested plays for this game, we'd be doing you a disservice by not letting you in on this deal from FanDuel Sportsbook. They are letting new users bet on either team at the moneyline at the huge odds of 55/1! This means that if you pick the winner, you'll turn $5 into $275.

But yet, here we are. The NFL always had contingency plans if the COVID situation within the league got out of hand, with the option of going to a Week 18 and even the potential of a 16-team playoffs, if teams were forced to play an uneven number of games.
But, after getting through the 17 regular season weeks without a game postponement of more than six days, the league has got through the first three weeks of playoffs and now has its dream Super Bowl matchup between the vet looking for his 7th (!!) title and the young superstar, who many have pegged reaching a similar number in years to come.
Looking ahead to the matchup and the sportsbooks have the two sides separated by the barest of margins, with the Chiefs favored across the board as they head to Raymond James Stadium to face the Buccaneers at home - the first team to qualify for the SB when it has been hosted in its own stadium. As for our NFL Super Bowl predictions, we have this one going down to the wire! These predictions update regularly, depending on things such as the weather and team lineups, so keep an eye on them. In terms of the players most likely to score a Super Bowl touchdown, we've got you covered here.
💪 Spread
The spread is the most common bet type, not only on the Super Bowl, but for the NFL in general. Basically, the spread is a number designated by the sportsbooks, which they predict to be the final margin the favorite will win by, as seen in brackets here: Kansas City Chiefs are favorites and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the dogs.
It’s then your job to determine who will "cover" this spread, meaning either the favorite will win by more than this number (i.e. the Chiefs to win by 4+) or the underdog will get within this number or even win the game (i.e. the Bucs to stay within 3 points or actually win).
So far this season, the Chiefs have covered the spread in just eight of their 18 games, whilst the Bucs have covered 11 times from their 19. In the playoffs, the Chiefs are 1-1 against the spread, and the Bucs are 2-1 ATS, with both teams covering on their way to Conference Championship wins over the Bills and Packers respectively.
According to our projections, the Bucs are currently the more likely team to cover, with DimersBOT giving Tampa a 63% chance at the time or writing!
🚀 Over/Under
Another popular Super Bowl bet in the big dance is the total match points to be scored, with bets being placed on the total finishing Over or Under the number chosen by the sportsbooks. For this game, the Total has been set around the 55 points mark, with the exact number at the time of writing at 56 - this is likely to fluctuate based on public money, among other things.
After 10,000 simulations of the matchup, our model has this one finishing 28-27 to the Chiefs, meaning the final score would settle right on 55. Basically, this Total looks very close, with the suggested bet coming down to your own preferences. Do you think the defenses will get on top, or can Mahomes and Brady turn this into a shootout, with you able to root for scores from both teams?

💵 Moneyline
The final Super Bowl bet type that you can get have fun with is the moneyline. A moneyline bet allows you to ignore the above-mentioned spread and pick who you think will win straight up. Easy, right?!
This means that if you bet on the Chiefs, your potential winnings will be less than if you bet on the Bucs, but in turn the Chiefs are currently rated as a 56% chance to win, meaning you’re more likely to cash your ticket! The Chiefs have only lost twice this season, one of those losses coming in Week 17 when most of their usual starters sat out.
The Bucs on the other hand finished the regular season 11-5 and have since won three playoff games on the road to reach the Super Bowl.
