Los Angeles comes into this game after having won four of its last five, but San Francisco is coming off a big win over the LA Rams last week. And Kyle Shanahan's group should only continue to get stronger as Christian McCaffrey gets more and more comfortable in the offense.

Chargers vs. 49ers Odds and Betting Lines
Why The Chargers Will Cover The Spread
The offensive line and Austin Ekeler. The Chargers are doing a tremendous job protecting Herbert (sacked only 10 times in 351 pass attempts) and have turned the ball over just six times — five interceptions and one lost fumble.
Ekeler doesn’t have a ton of rushing yards, but he’s averaging 4.4 yards per carry and will need to keep the Niners defense honest and from sending the kitchen sink at Herbert all night.

Why 49ers Will Cover The Spread
The Niners unleashed their shiny new toy in Week 8 and continued their mastery over the Rams, with the lone exception of last year’s NFC title game, to four seasons as McCaffery became the 11th player in history with rushing, passing and receiving touchdowns in a game.
San Francisco’s defense also returned to form after getting torched by Patrick Mahomes in McCaffrey’s debut. The Niners held the Rams to 58 second-half yards. The unit will also come after Justin Herbert with fresh legs following a week off.
Chemistry has been lacking for the Chargers due to injuries. Keenan Allen has played in only two games; Mike Williams is out at least two more weeks with a bum ankle.
Why The Over Will Hit
Seeing how the Rams (twice) and a handful of others failed to get anything accomplished on the ground against the Niners, don’t be surprised if the Chargers play at a hurry-up pace and allow Herbert to sling the ball all night.
Defensively, the Chargers are hit and miss despite an offseason spending spree. They’ve been cooked by the Jaguars and Seahawks and allow an average of 25.6 points per game.

Why The Under Will Hit
With McCaffrey and Ekeler, both offenses are equipped to grind. Niners’ Swiss-Army knife Deebo Samuel popped up on the early injury report with a hamstring issue and that’s something to keep an eye on. The unit will be much more conservative if Samuel is unable to go.
If you’re willing to draw a line through San Francisco’s effort against Mahomes, there’s a strong case for the under here.
Chargers vs. 49ers Prediction
Lean: 49ers -7
The Niners were embarrassed the last time they played at home, coughing up 44 points to the Chiefs, after allowing a combined 16 points in their first two contests at Levi. Look for CMC and the D to lead a San Francisco double-digit W.
