NFL Betting Strategy: How to Bet on Week 2 of the 2024 Season
The NFL is officially back and Week 1 did not disappoint. We saw rookies break out, monumental upsets and more than a few performances, injuries and boxscores that will shape the next few weeks of the season.
With so much hype around the weekly NFL schedule, it can be hard to cut through the noise and find out just exactly how you should be betting on these key moments, if at all.
Aided by the power of Dimers Pro, we'll be looking at these storylines each week through the betting lens and how you can use our exclusive NFL data to turn a profit.

Without further ado, let's dig into Week 2 of the NFL.
Kupp is King and Always Has Been
What Rams WR Puka Nacua accomplished in his rookie season last year can not be understated. He smashed his way to the rookie receiving yards record, was the absolute steal of fantasy football and looked primed to enter the elite ranks of wide receivers moving forward.
In the midst of his phenomenal campaign, fans and bettors seemed to overlook Cooper Kupp. Look no further than fantasy football drafts, where Nacua was a Top 10 WR going at the first round turn while Kupp was being picked almost two rounds later.
Nacua went down in the first half of Sunday Night Football and Kupp finished with 14 receptions, 110 yards and a touchdown. Now Nacua heads to IR which means he'll miss at least 4 games.
So what's next? For starters, DimersBOT projects Cooper Kupp for 89 receiving yards and a 51% TD probability against the Cardinals. He's at an 11.8% probability to score the first touchdown of the game and 13.5% to score 2+ touchdowns.

No Touchdown? No Problem for the First Place Steelers
With a late-week QB shakeup and a road trip against one of the offseason's most hyped teams, the Steelers proved a football team can live on volume alone.
20 rushes for Najee Harris, 14 rushes for Justin Fields, 6 fields goals for Chris Boswell and 0 touchdowns.
Rather than outsmart the Falcons with Russell Wilson unable to start, the Steelers just deployed Plan B and outplayed Atlanta with classic Steelers football, an assuredly satisfying revenge game for Arthur Smith who was canned by the Falcons last season.
Now, they sit as the lone team with a win in the AFC North, probably not what was on your bingo card to start the NFL Season. They're even a value play, as our probability suggests fair odds of just +470 while they're at +550 on FanDuel, though they're much further behind our favorite to win, the Ravens.

Bijan's Big Breakout Stays on Hold
Speaking of Arthur Smith, it probably gave him some reprieve by watching the Falcons' 2023 first-round pick he refused to unleash to his full potential fail to score against his new squad.
It wasn't for lack of trying - Bijan Robinson totaled 23 touches and 120 total yards. Unfortunately, he was one of the most popular bets to score a touchdown on Sunday, which didn't materialize, much to the chagrin of bettors and fantasy managers.
The next game up for the Falcons is a Battle of the Birds as they take on the Eagles in Monday Night Football to close out Week 2.
Robinson is our second-most likely TD scorer in this game, drawing a 55.5% Anytime TD probability for fair odds of -125. For longer odds plays, he's at a 13.9% probability for the first touchdown, (fair at +620) and 15.8% for 2+ touchdowns (fair at +530).

Seeking Clarity in the Bills Passing Game
We knew narrowing down the Bills passing funnel would be a work in progress with superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs off to the Texans and field-stretcher and fantasy football headache Gabe Davis now in Jacksonville.
QB Josh Allen spread the ball out as much as humanly possible in Week 1's victory over the Cardinals, with *ten* different players seeing one of Allen's 23 targets and no one clearing 4 individual catches.
Second-round rookie WR Keon Coleman led the team with 4 catches and 41 yards on 5 targets while second-year TE Dalton Kincaid saw just two targets. WRs Mack Hollins and Khalil Shakir caught the team's two passing touchdowns.
If you're looking for some clarity in this passing attack like us, well, see for yourself:
Player | Touchdown % | Projected Yards |
---|---|---|
Khalil Shakir | 23% | 49 |
Keon Coleman | 27% | 48 |
Dalton. Kincaid | 23% | 45 |
Our top three receivers for the Bills all draw a similar projection for Thursday Night Football vs. the Dolphins, though the rookie Coleman gets the slight advantage in the touchdown department. That makes our fair odds for a Coleman Anytime TD +270, but it looks to take another few weeks to nail down the WR1 in Buffalo.
