NFL Best Bets: Favorite Plays for the Late Games on Sunday, September 18, 2022

We went 4-1 with our Week 1 NFL best bets and we're hoping to keep winning when we attack the late afternoon Week 2 slate on Sunday, September 18. As always, we won't have as many games to choose from in this round of games, but we'll stay selective and try to dish out some winners.

If you’re looking to bet on the NFL, then you should consider signing up with FanDuel Sportsbook ➡️ here ⬅️ as you can make a risk-free bet of up to $1,000. You know you’ll be on the couch watching the games anyway, so why not make a big play using house money for this weekend's football games?

Best Bets for the Late Games on Sunday, September 18, 2022

Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers - 4:05PM ET

This game looks like the ultimate trap from the oddsmakers, as the Seahawks are coming off a big win over the Denver Broncos and the 49ers were upset by the Chicago Bears. The average bettor is going to see a big line in this game and jump to take Seattle, but we're not overreacting to what we saw last week.

We expect there to be some major regression from Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith this week, as he's going up against one of the best defenses in football — in some nasty conditions. And we also expect to see a little more out of 49ers quarterback Trey Lance, who has the running ability to stand out in what figures to be another sloppy, rainy game for San Francisco.

All in all, the Seahawks are supposed to be one of the worst teams in football this year. They might have earned an emotional win over Russell Wilson last week, but they won't have that same energy and motivation for winning on a weekly basis. This is still one of the worst teams in the league and San Francisco should beat up on Pete Carroll's group in what already feels like a must-win game for a 49ers team that is hoping to contend for a Super Bowl this year.

PICK: 49ers -8.5 (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

Arizona Cardinals vs. Las Vegas Raiders - 4:25PM ET

The Cardinals couldn't get Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs offense off the field last week, as they ended up giving up 44 points in an embarrassing home loss. Now, Arizona faces a Las Vegas offense that will be eager to go out and prove that it is a heck of a lot better than it showed in Week 1. The Raiders only scored 19 points in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but this is one of the more talented teams in football and they should have a lot more success playing this Cardinals team at home.

While Derek Carr doesn't have the same all-world talent that Mahomes possesses, he is still a very good quarterback and has an insane group of weapons at his disposal. The Cardinals won't have any match for Davante Adams, who cooked the Chargers for 10 receptions, 141 yards and a touchdown in his first game with Las Vegas. And if Arizona does decide to throw extra help in his direction, that will allow Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow to feast in their one-on-one match-ups. The Raiders could also get the ground game going in this one, as the Cards had no answer for the Chiefs running game in Week 1 — despite the fact that Kansas City's offensive line isn't anything special.

Arizona's offense should also be a lot better in Week 2 than it was in Week 1. Kyler Murray never quite looked comfortable against the Chiefs, but he and the rest of that Cardinals offense are too talented to come out flat two weeks in a row.

We aren't quite sure who will come out and win this game, but we do expect the winner to emerge from a shootout. Since Kliff Kingsbury became the head coach of Arizona, the Over is 8-6 in the games in which his team has been an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points. That's pretty telling when you consider the fact that the Under is 27-23 in the 50 games he has coached for the Cardinals.

PICK: Over 51.5 (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
