Best Bets for the Late Games on Sunday, October 2, 2022

Arizona Cardinals vs. Carolina Panthers - 4:05PM ET

The Under is 14-4 in Arizona road games since the start of the 2020-21 season, and it's also 17-7 when the team is coming off a home game since Kliff Kingsbury became the Cardinals head coach. This team just hasn't played high-scoring games on the road recently and it's hard to see that changing against a Panthers team that isn't very explosive. 

Carolina hasn't scored more than 24 points in a single game this season, and these teams are both in the middle of the pack in points per game this year. Both of them are averaging 20.7 points per game, making it hard to see how they combine to score 44 or more — especially since both of them are solid on the defensive side of the ball. 

It'd just be very surprising if this game ends up going Over the total, especially given how Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield have played this season. So, while it's never fun to do so, we're betting the Under.

Denver Broncos vs. Las Vegas Raiders - 4:25PM ET

This is a game in which we're really just keeping it simple. The Raiders are too talented of a football team to move to 0-4, and they'll be treating this as a must-win game at home. They also have to feel pretty good about their chances of knocking off the Broncos, who aren't nearly as good as their 2-1 record suggests they are. Denver has had some good luck in close games this year, but it's a team that could easily be 0-3 right now. 

Also, with the way that the Broncos offense has been failing to put up points, a meeting with Chandler Jones and Maxx Crosby has to be somewhat concerning for Russell Wilson and Co. We think the Vegas defense will get into the backfield quite a bit and make life on the former Seattle quarterback pretty difficult. 

Another thing to point out about this match-up is that the Broncos' elite secondary will be less useful against a team like the Raiders, who have guys that are capable of beating any type of coverage. There's nobody on the planet that can actually shut Davante Adams down, making Denver's strength less of an advantage here. 

Look for the Raiders to get into the win column here, with the team winning by at least a field goal to help us cash our last play of the day. The crowd at Allegiant Stadium will make sure of it.
