NBA Playoffs Standings, Predictions, Best Bets and Clinching Scenarios on Final Day of Regular Season
The NBA regular season finale is upon us and several teams are vying for their final spot in the standings. Here's everything in play on the final day and how to bet on each game according to our model.

The final day of the NBA regular season is upon us as every team will play in Game No. 82 on Sunday, April 13.
For weeks, if not months, the playoff picture has been taking shape, with teams locking in for the final stretch and others throwing in the towel and going full tank mode.
And then you have the Phoenix Suns, who are both eliminated from the playoffs *and* are outside the NBA Draft Lottery, putting them in purgatory.
As the final games of the NBA schedule approach, we're looking at what's in play on the last day of the season, helping narrow down which games mean the most and which mean nothing at all, helping you identify the best betting spots.
All of our NBA insights come from Dimers Pro, our subscription service that runs predictive simulations for over a dozen leagues on Dimers.com, identifying profitable betting opportunities where we believe the sportsbooks are wrong. Teams Locked in to the NBA Postseason
For starters, the Eastern Conference is decided. Seeds 1-6 have all finished high enough to avoid the Play-In, while the teams in the 7-10 spots are guaranteed a Play-In appearance, with the seeding locked in as well. Here's how the East looks:
- Cleveland Cavaliers
- Boston Celtics
- New York Knicks
- Indiana Pacers
- Milwaukee Bucks
- Detroit Pistons
- Orlando Magic
- Atlanta Hawks
- Chicago Bulls
- Miami Heat
In the West, there's a similar situation with seeds 11-15 all eliminated like in the East, however, the final spots in the Play-In are yet to be determined.
These teams are locked in for the Western Conference Playoffs:
- Oklahoma City Thunder
- Houston Rockets
- Los Angeles Lakers
Which Teams Have the Most to Play For?
The Nuggets, who are at #4, control their fate as a win locks them in to that spot and homecourt advantage in Round 1. Expect them to play hard vs. Houston who have no seeding implications. Our model gives the Nuggets a 76% win probability, but likes the Rockets to cover the +8.5 point spread at 53%. Nikola Jokic is projected fora triple double at 26 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.
Next we have the Clippers who can secure the 5-seed with a win over the Warriors, who also need a win to guarantee their spot outside the play-in, as they sit tied with the Timberwolves. Minnesota gets a soft matchup with the Jazz, putting them in strong position to roll over Utah who are 23-point underdogs. The Dimers model gives Minnesota a 95% chance to win.
Presently we project the Warriors with a substantial 63% probability to win over the Clippers, led by a 28-point performance from Stephen Curry.
Below them, we have the Grizzlies, Kings and Mavericks who are all locked in to the Play-in, though seeding is up in the air.
The Grizzlies can steal the top spot in the Play-In if the Timberwolves lose and the Warriors win, as Golden State holds the tiebreaker, but as we stated, a Timberwolves loss is highly unlikely.
The Mavs need a win and Kings loss to avoid traveling for both play-in games, but we currently give the Grizzlies a 66% win probability over Dallas, putting the Mavs likely in the bottom spot.
Teams Eliminated from the NBA Postseason
These teams are officially out of playoff contention, including the NBA Play-In Tournament, meaning they're locked in to a bottom five seed in their respective conference. Some of them have been out of it for weeks, while others have only just been knocked out, like Phoenix.
Eliminated from 2025 Playoffs:
- Brooklyn Nets
- Charlotte Hornets
- New Orleans Pelicans
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Phoenix Suns
- Portland Trail Blazers
- San Antonio Spurs
- Toronto Raptors
- Utah Jazz
- Washington Wizards
Betting on these teams and players can be risky - it's best to look at which players might have milestones to play for, before firing off bets where the minutes and motivation could be up in the air.
These teams are primarily vying for Draft Lottery position, meaning their sole motivation as a team is to lose, particularly the Jazz and Wizards who are tied for the No. 1 spot.
