Dallas have erred on the side of caution with their star man, sending Luka Doncic to the sidelines after sustaining a calf injury in the final game of the Mavs' regular season on Sunday night. Not too many franchises would put the health of their marquee player first - and it should be commended - but it's going to cost them first up. The Mavericks are 8-9 in games without Luka this year, including a 4-point loss to this very Jazz team on Christmas Day. Utah haven't been without their recent troubles, but they are within the same tier of this Mavs lineup and get a considerable boost with Doncic out. This is their chance.

This is going to be a hell of a series with two young teams who play an extremely fast pace of basketball. While we're expecting the points to flow, we're more fixated on the Wolves and their ability to hold their own with the Griz over the course of the season. In fact, Minnesota have split the season four-game series and pushed one of the other two games to OT. The Timberwolves will think they're every chance to snatch a couple of games in this series and we're expecting it to be close.
