Not many games today will turn out how the NBA dreamed they would when setting the Christmas Day schedule thanks to the new wave of Covid, but this is one particular game that is certainly robbed of intriguing narrative of Trae Young returning to the Garden. Young will be sidelined for this one - as will many of the Hawks roster, but one thing they did show on Thursday against Philly, is that they can be gritty. John Collins and Cam Reddish will be leading the line and can do it well, with some added assistance from Delon Wright who can play like a good player when he wants to. We're taking the points on Atlanta.

Celtics vs. Bucks, 2:30PM (EST)

Giannis is back and the Celtics are in some trouble, missing multiple players off their bench which could make things tough for them down the stretch. With that said, though, you can't expect the Greek Freak to be notching big numbers straight out of the Covid sickbed, so the smart play might be to look towards the total points. Both teams feature in A LOT of games that go under (61% of games for the Bucks and 58% for the Celtics), and Milwaukee boasts a defense that is elite. With a raft of of outs, not to mention the marquee player lacking some conditioning, 220 seems way too high of a total.

Warriors vs. Suns, 5:00PM (EST)

Steph Curry averages just 13 points per game on Christmas and will have a tough assignment against a Suns outfit that has held him down in 2 prior meetings already this year. Phoenix have barely any issues on the Covid/injury front and could make a statement on their home floor in what very well could be a preview of the Western Conference Finals.

Nets vs. Lakers, 8:00PM (EST)

I've seen nothing of the Lakers in recent games to make me think they are deserving of being moneyline favorites here, especially considering James Harden will be returning. LA is being held up by LeBron James who is battling with teammates who seem completely disinterested. This has all the hallmarks of a big game on the dimes for Harden and an avalanche of three-pointers from Patty Mills.

Mavericks vs. Jazz, 10:30PM (EST)

The Mavs have 9 players as confirmed outs as we wrap up the dishevelled Christmas slate in Salt Lake City - and that could be 10 if Kristaps Porzingis doesn't recover from his toe injury. Dallas have one of the worst offenses in the league going by points production and the Utah have one of the best defenses. The line is 12.5 which is a little too scary to touch, but we're counting on a low scoring game to round us out.
