MLB Betting Insights 09/7/2022

Which MLB team is hot right now?

With seven wins in their last nine games and in strong position to qualify for the American League playoffs, the Toronto Blue Jays are who many experts thought they were.

Sweeping a doubleheader in Baltimore behind Bo Bichette’s three homers in the nightcap was huge, and despite falling last night the Jays still own a 3 ½ game cushion over the Orioles in the wild-card standings heading into tonight’s matchup at Camden Yards. Toronto ranks second in MLB in batting average (.260), sixth in runs scored, and a solid 12th in ERA.

Which MLB team is cold right now?

The Texas Rangers are in a serious downward spiral. They sat only four games below .500 at 41-45 on July 13 and not to far off from wild-card contention in the American League. Now they’re just hoping to avoid finishing in the AL West basement.

The Rangers are 17-31 in their last 49 contests and lost their 10th consecutive game last night in Houston. Texas will face Astros pitcher Cristian Javier for the second time in a week. On Aug. 31, the Rangers managed three runs on seven hits in five innings against him in defeat so that’s somewhat encouraging.

MLB players: Who is in hot form?

Where would the Atlanta Braves be without the contributions of rookie Michael Harris? Certainly not pushing hard for the NL East crown coming off a World Series. The 21-year-old outfielder is raking to say the least. In 89 games, he has 15 home runs, 51 RBIs 16 stolen bases and a .307 average.

Even better, heading into this afternoon’s battle in Oakland against the A’s and rookie pitcher Ken Waldichuk, Harris is 11-for-27 (.407) in his last seven games with two homers and 6 RBIs.

MLB Players: Who is out of form?

Acquired by Milwaukee from Tampa Bay, Willy Adames enjoyed a breakout 2021 campaign for the Brewers with 25 homers and 73 RBIs while hitting .262 and stabilizing the shortstop position. With nearly 50 games remaining this season, he’s already topped his career best in homers with 26 to go along with 79 RBIs. Perhaps, however, swinging for the fences sometimes has affected the batting average.

He’s hitting .232 and was in a woeful 5-for-32 slump (.156) over the past week before going 3-for-4 last night. Today he faces Colorado’s Kyle Freeland, who has not allowed a hit to Adames in 5 at-bats.
