Which MLB team is cold right now?

Injuries and inconsistency have been the story lately for the San Francisco Giants, who are 2-9 in their last 11 games following last night’s 6-2 defeat at Arizona. It was also their sixth consecutive loss, and the slide has them just one game over .500 after they were 10 games over three weeks ago.

You’d think with how well the Cleveland Guardians are playing, ace Shane Bieber’s 3.16 ERA and 1.16 WHIP heading into Wednesday’s outing at Detroit would translate to a better record than 3-4.

Bieber is a consistent strikeout producer every time he takes the mound and if he keeps pitching as he has, the wins will start to pile up. He dominated the Tigers May 22, scattering six hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts in a 4-2 victory.

He went six innings for the first time in 2022 and will likely have a bumpy road navigating through a scary Toronto lineup tonight. He’s 1-5 with a rough 5.43 ERA and 1.38 WHIP.

The subject of trade rumors leading up to the annual deadline at the end of July, Kansas City’s Andrew Benintendi turns 28 today and even though his power numbers are down, is worth a look against Houston’s Christian Javier. Benintendi is batting .313 but has only 3 homers.

Manny Machado

Manny Machado continues to be a lynchpin to San Diego’s success and turns the big 3-0 on Wednesday.

A career .282 hitter, Machado is on pace to finish with his highest single-season batting average (.318) and on-base percentage (.392.) He needs 3 more RBIs to reach 800 for his career. Machado went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and one RBI on last year’s birthday.
