MLB Betting Insights 07/28/2022

Which MLB team is hot right now?

The Arizona Diamondbacks have a travel day today as they head to Atlanta to begin a three-game set with the defending champs. The D-Backs are coming off a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants and have captured six of their last seven games, matching their best stretch of the season.

Arizona’s pitching staff hasn’t allowed more than five runs in any of the past 10 games and will look for Madison Bumgarner to keep the Braves from halting that streak.

Which MLB team is cold right now?

Losers of three straight and eight of 10, the Pittsburgh Pirates limp into Philadelphia for a four-game series against their in-state rivals. Pittsburgh lost a pair of hard-fought battles to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field to begin the week, falling 3-2 and 4-2, and will have a difficult time getting the bats going against Zach Wheeler.

Zach Thompson, who was shelled in his previous start, takes the mound for the Pirates, whose minus-144 run differential is second-worst in baseball to the Washington Nationals’ -160.

MLB players: Who is in hot form?

Anyone who selected Marcus Semien in the first or second round of their fantasy draft, or shelled out big bucks for the Texas infielder in an auction draft, can breathe a little sigh of relief lately. After a dreadful start, Semien has been delivering since the calendar flipped to July.

Over his last 103 at-bats, he’s produced six homers, 18 RBIs, 16 runs and five stolen bases. While there’s no way he’s duplicating last year’s 45 homers, he’s trending upward big time.

MLB Players: Who is out of form?

Not much has gone right for the Los Angeles Angels over the past two months aside from the remarkable Shohei Ohtani. There’s no shortage of underachieving players on the roster and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of sellers they are come Tuesday’s trade deadline.

Outfielder Brandon Marsh is as cold as any. Over his last 59 at-bats, he has struck out 30 times and has just 10 hits after going 2 for 4 yesterday.
