Jake Marisnick homered for a second straight night, although he’s highly unlikely to make up for the absence of Bryan Reynolds for at least the next 10 days. Look for Pittsburgh to get a reality check.

Over the past four games, San Francisco’s Wilmer Flores is 8-for-19 and not just hitting singles. He has 6 extra-base hits, including 3 homers and 8 RBIs during the sizzing stretch and helping the Giants stay afloat.

MLB Players: Who is out of form?
The Orioles have been surging but outfielder Austin Hays, while being bothered by a nagging wrist injury, hasn’t been one of the reasons why. Over the past 15 days, Hays is in a mega slump going 3-for-42 with no homers or RBIs and just a pair of runs scored.

Yet he has 11 homers and 45 RBIs on the year. Baltimore is in Chicago to face the Cubs again tonight.

MLB Players Born on July 13
Cody Bellinger
A World Series game isn’t happening today, so Cody Bellinger could be worth a gamble on his 27th birthday. OK, so he has 8 hits in 66 World Series at-bats for a .121 average, but it wasn’t long ago (2019) that he hit 47 homers and had 115 RBIs, 15 steals and a .305 average.

His average has been on a steep decline and after an ugly .165 clip last season, he’s barely hovering over .200. He does have 11 home runs, so he’s still capable of jogging the bases against St. Louis and Adam Wainwright.
