Which MLB team is hot right now?
An RBI double in the eighth inning last night by Nico Hoerner lifted the Chicago Cubs to a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates for their season-high fifth consecutive victory.
The Cubs are expected to be sellers on, or even before, the Aug. 2 trade deadline, so there’s no telling what their lineup or pitching staff will look like a week from now. For now, maybe you should ride them again this afternoon with Keegan Thompson getting the start.

Which MLB team is cold right now?
The San Francisco Giants were hot before the All-Star break. Now they’re not. Arizona’s Merrill Kelly kept their bats silent Monday night and the Giants saw their losing streak reach five with a 7-0 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In a perfect world, the San Francisco Giants would have psyched themselves up to crush last-place Arizona on Monday night and put a four-game sweep by the Dodgers behind them. In the real world, the Giants were trounced 7-0.https://t.co/OdjuNP80vD

San Francisco managed only three hits and is back to .500 at 48-48. A loss in Arizona tonight would drop manager Gabe Kapler’s team below .500 for the first time all year. Carlos Rodon will try to stop the bleeding.

MLB players: Who is in hot form?
Freddie Freeman is locked in for the NL West-leading Dodgers. He has 18 hits in his last 37 at-bats (.486 average) with four homers, five doubles, eight RBIs and 10 runs scored, making him among the hottest hitters in baseball over the past two weeks as Los Angeles has padded its division lead.
Freeman is on pace for 25 homers and 110 RBIs and he’ll face Washington Nationals starter Josiah Gray tonight. Gray has a 4.40 ERA and has given up five or more earned runs in two of his last three starts.

MLB Players: Who is out of form?
While he’s yet to get the bat going all year, Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Didi Gregorius is in the midst of a particularly alarming cold streak.
Heading into tonight’s game against the Atlanta Braves, he’s 4 for 32 over the past two weeks for a .125 batting average (and a .151 OBP) with one homer — his only one in 2022 — three singles and only four RBIs. His streak of six straight seasons of double-digit home runs is in serious jeopardy.

MLB Players Born on July 26
Ryan O’Hearn
Never more than a part-time starter, O’Hearn is in his fifth big league season—all with Kansas City. He’s spent just as much time in the minors during his professional career, with 2022 being no different.
