MLB Betting Insights 08/23/2022
Which MLB team is hot right now?
The Texas Rangers did some house cleaning lately, firing president of baseball operations John Daniels as well as manager Chris Woodword, amid a season of disappointment.
Texas was looking to be a playoff contender after adding Corey Seager and Marcus Semien on mega free-agent contracts, yet it sits 10 games under .500 (56-66) with 40 to go. The Rangers have won three straight and are 7-3 in their last 10 entering tonight’s game in Colorado.
Which MLB team is cold right now?
The Los Angeles Angels have two of the best players in baseball, yet it’s hard to justify their future as being bright. The Angels won’t lose 100 games, but they’re likely to drop more than 90 and a managerial change sure didn’t look like the answer.
Losers of three straight and 7 of 10 heading into tonight’s game in Tampa, the Angels have produced just four runs in their last four games with Mike Trout back in the lineup.
MLB players: Who is in hot form?
What a season so far for St. Louis’ Paul Goldschmidt, who rates near the top of the NL MVP conversation with six weeks remaining. Earlier this year, Goldy surpassed 300 home runs and 1,000 RBIs for his career, and has boosted his careerbatting average to .296 thanks to a sizzling .337 mark for a power hitter.
He’s 19-for-52 (.365 avg.) with 5 homers, 18 RBIs and 12 runs over the past few weeks and 31/100 on the year. He’s 1-for-10 career against Chicago’s Adrian Sampson whom he faces tonight at Wrigley Field.
MLB Players: Who is out of form?
Even the best of hitters can’t do it 162 games a year. Boston 3B Rafael Devers is a perfect example. He’s stone cold right now, mired in a 6-for-43 slump with just one homer and 3 RBIs since Aug. 9.
The slide has caused his average to fall 15 points during the short span, down to .296 heading into tonight’s game against Toronto and Ross Stripling. Devers set a career mark for home runs with 38 last season and remains on pace to top that by one, but if the current slump prolongs it’ll be a tough target.
