Which MLB team is hot right now?

Aside from the Seattle Mariners riding a monster 14-game winning streak into the All-Star break, the next team with the most consecutive wins is the Los Angeles Dodgers with 4, and 9 out of 10.

The Dodgers are 60-30 and lead the NL West by 10 full games over San Diego despite some key injuries to their pitching staff, including the continued absence of Walker Buehler. They’re 30-13 at home and host San Francisco tonight with Julio Urias on the mound.

Which MLB team is cold right now?

No shortage of cold teams coming out of the break. The Detroit Tigers are 37-55 and will try to snap a four-game slide tonight in Oakland. They’ve also lost 8 of 9 and are a horrendous 17 games under .500 on the road.

Earlier this season, the A’s won 4 of 5 in Detroit. Lefthander Tariq Skubal (6-8, 4.11 ERA), who pitched much better in April and May than he has in June and July, gets the nod tonight for the visitors.

MLB players: Who is in hot form?

How about Matt Carpenter? Signed off the scrap heap by the New York Yankees, he’s become a force in the lineup — especially against right-handed pitching. Over the past 14 days, Carpenter has belted 5 homers and driven in 17 runs while hitting .432 with an on-base percentage of .533.

On the year, he has 13 home runs and 34 RBIs in just 79 at-bats. He’s hitting .354 heading into today’s doubleheader against Houston. Just incredible!

MLB Players: Who is out of form?

There’s no arguing the talent level of Minnesota’s Byron Buxton, and he’s gone deep 23 times with 43 RBIs coming out of the break, but the past two weeks he’s been in a deep freeze.

Dating back to the opening week of July, Buxton is 7-for-43 (.163 average) with one homer, 3 RBIs and 4 runs. Even worse is he’s struck out 19 times during the slump.
