MLB Betting Insights 08/11/2022

Which MLB team is hot right now?

Once again, it’s approaching the middle of August and the Kansas City Royals have been relegated to the role of spoilers. The only thing remaining for the Royals in 2022 is to battle with the Detroit Tigers to avoid a last-place finish in the AL Central, and to give its youth some playing time.

The Royals are on a bit of a hot streak with wins in four of their last five and turn to veteran Zack Greinke this afternoon against the visiting White Sox.

Which MLB team is cold right now?

Heading into tonight’s Field of Dreams game surrounded by Iowa’s epic corn field backdrop, the Cincinnati Reds have lost three straight while producing a total of 5 runs in 27 innings against the Mets in New York.

The Reds are 44-66 yet only one game behind tonight’s opponent for third place in the NL Central. Cincinnati is 3-4 against the Cubs this season and will send young Nick Lodolo to the hill against fellow southpaw Drew Smyly.

MLB players: Who is in hot form?

Acquired from Toronto in a 1-for-1 swap for Ramel Tapia, Colorado’s Randal Grichuk is starting to get comfortable at Coors Field and taking advantage of some thin air.

On Monday, Grichuk went 5-for-5 with a home run and 3 RBIs to lead an easy victory over his original team, the Cardinals, and has been raking since the calendar flipped to August. Despite an 0-fer Wednesday, he’s riding an 11-for-26 streak (.423) with a couple of homers and 5 RBIs. He’ll face St. Louis’ Dakota Hudson this afternoon.

MLB Players: Who is out of form?

This isn’t the first time we’ve called out the Angels’ Jared Walsh for swinging an invisible stick. Coming off a dynamite 2021 campaign (29 HRs, 99 RBIs, .277 average) the smooth-swinging first baseman is having a tough time adjusting to pitchers who’ve adjusted to him.

Walsh has only 3 hits in his last 29 at-bats and has watched his average nosedive to .225. Of his 14 homers, only 1 has come since June 22.

MLB Players Born on August 11

Michael Chavis

Acquired from the Red Sox late last season, Michael Chavis is going to get every opportunity to be an everyday player in Pittsburgh.

He appeared in only 43 games in 2021. Now he’s getting 100 percent run against left-handed pitching and also his share of at-bats against righties. Chavis, who turns 27 today, has 12 home runs, 37 RBIs and a .249 batting average.
