MLB Betting Insights 09/2/2022
Which MLB team is hot right now?
The Seattle Mariners are fun to watch and wager on. They’ve been playing as good a baseball as anyone over the past 10 weeks. Yesterday, young phenom OF Julio Rodriguez and 2B Ty France hit back-to-back jacks as the Mariners won for the sixth time in seven games, crushing Detroit 7-0. Logan Gilbert got his first win in nine starts.
Luis Castillo (5-5, 2.85 ERA) will start the opener of a three-game series for the M’s in Cleveland tonight. Castillo held the Guardians to one run while striking out 10 in six innings last Saturday in a no-decision.
Which MLB team is cold right now?
Doomed from a 3-22 start, the Cincinnati Reds picked themselves off the ground a bit to overtake lowly Pittsburgh in the NL Central and fourth place is all that’s left in terms of 2022 drama. The Reds are 3-7 in their last 10 and aren’t exactly flooded with young position player talent to audition in September.
So they are basically playing out the schedule once again. Colorado comes to town for a weekend series tonight and the Rockies’ hitters could love the friendly confines of Great American Ballpark as well as Cincinnati pitching.
MLB players: Who is in hot form?
If you’ve been using Kansas City rookie 1B Nick Pratto in your daily fantasy lineups lately, well congratulations. If you haven’t, it’s time to seriously consider the 23-year-old lefty who’s getting more and more confident at the plate after a rough start to his career.
Entering tonight’s game in Detroit, Pratto is riding a 9-for-25 streak (.360 avg.) with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs, forcing manager Mike Matheny to bump him up in the batting order. Pratto was hitting just .163 on Aug. 25. Now he’s at .203.
MLB Players: Who is out of form?
It hasn’t been a positive season for the Red Sox, but tonight is a good time to load your daily fantasy lineup with Boston hitters. That’s because veteran lefty Dallas Keuchel is on the mound for visiting Texas and his numbers for 2022 are alarming.
Now with his third club following a pair of cuts, Keuchel’s solid career is hanging by a thread. He allowed seven earned runs in his last start and is toting an 8.84 ERA on the year. On May 26, he yielded six runs in two innings of work against these same Sox.
