After simulating each game over 10,000 times, our model has identified the following bets as our best parlay picks for the opening games of the first round in the 2025 March Madness tournament.

Leg 1: Mississippi State Moneyline vs. Baylor

Mississippi State enters this matchup as a slight favorite (-1.5), and their statistical advantages suggest they can control this game. The Bulldogs boast a potent offense, averaging 79.8 points per game, and their dominance on the boards (38.2 rebounds per game, #30) should give them extra possessions against Baylor’s less effective rebounding unit. Defensively, Baylor has been more efficient, allowing just 69.7 points per game (#87), but they struggle against good ball movement, ranking #341 in opponent assists. Mississippi State’s balanced attack and superior rebounding should give them the edge to cover the spread and secure the win. Dimers predicts a 57% probability of a Bulldogs win with a little value at a 2.3% edge

Leg 2: Colorado State Moneyline vs. Memphis

Despite being the low seed, Colorado State is favored at -1.5, but the Rams face a surging Memphis squad. However, the Rams’ elite defense is the key to this matchup. They allow just 67.1 points per game (#35) and hold opponents to an impressive 31.7 rebounds per game (#25). Their ball movement is exceptional, ranking #8 in assists per field goal made (0.628), which could expose Memphis’ weaker defensive metrics. Memphis has the firepower to make this a battle with an offense that scores 80.1 points per game on average but Colorado State’s defensive discipline and ability to control tempo should be enough with Memphis' vulnerable defense (ranked 201st). The Dimers model predicts the Rams with a 54% win probability.

Leg 3: Sant Mary's Moneyline vs. Vanderbilt

Saint Mary’s enters as a 4.5-point favorite, and their defensive dominance makes them a strong pick to not just win, but cover the spread. The Gaels allow just 60.7 points per game, ranking fifth in the nation, and dominate the boards with a +10.7 rebounding margin (#10). Vanderbilt, while a solid offensive team (79.6 PPG, #48), struggles defensively, allowing 74.8 points per game (#263), which could be a major issue against Saint Mary’s efficient and disciplined attack. With their stifling defense and rebounding advantage, the Gaels should control the tempo and secure the win while covering the spread. Our strongest play of the bunch, our model predicts St. Mary's with a 67% win probability in this first round matchup.
