Los Angeles Rams 2022 Win Total Prediction, Computer Picks and Super Bowl Odds

The 2022 NFL season is firmly on the horizon and over the coming weeks the Dimers crew will break down the chances of each and every team, all vying for Super Bowl 57 glory in Glendale, Arizona come February.

Let's take a look at the key factors to consider when betting on the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.

The Rams won the Super Bowl in Matthew Stafford's first year with the team, but can they find a way to contend once again? Doing so two years in a row is never easy.

Los Angeles Rams Win Total Prediction, Computer Picks and Super Bowl Odds

Los Angeles Rams

  • 2021 Record: 12-5, 1st place NFC West (Won Super Bowl)
  • 2021 ATS: 10-11
  • Key off-season losses: Von Miller DE, Robert Woods WR, Sebastian Joseph-Day DL, Darious Williams CB
  • Key off-season additions: Allen Robinson WR, Bobby Wagner LB, Troy Hill CB

Los Angeles Rams Win Total - 10.5

The Los Angeles Rams are trying to become the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the 2003/2004 New England Patriots, but they’re already dealing with concerning adversity.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford hasn't had the opportunity to get as many reps in as you'd like heading into an opening-week meeting with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills for Thursday Night Football.

According to head coach Sean McVay, Stafford, who signed a four-year, $160 million extension, is dealing with “very bad tendinitis” as well as an “abnormal” elbow injury.

“It's a little bit abnormal for a quarterback, some of this stuff is things that MLB pitchers deal with, so it is something that we're kind of learning about on the fly and his feedback," McVay told reporters Aug. 4.

The depth chart behind Stafford starts with John Wolford, who has 42 career pass attempts with zero touchdowns and a couple of interceptions. Stafford and WR Cooper Kupp (145 catches on 191 regular-season targets, 1,947 yards, 16 TDs) were lethal in their first year together, and the Rams added Allen Robinson while subtracting Robert Woods.

As for balancing the offense, the jury is very much out regarding the running game.

Defensively, if Aaron Donald & Co. up front can account for the departures of Von Miller and Sebastian Joseph-Day, the unit promises to be formidable. Donald needs two more sacks for 100 in his career.

DimersBOT: In our model's 10,000 simulations of the upcoming NFL season, the Rams averaged 10.36 wins per year. We think the Over is going to be tough for this team to hit with such a competitive schedule, but we do think highly of the team's chances of making a run.

Los Angeles Rams X-Factor - Cam Akers, RB

It’s not so much that Akers is on the hot seat because of performance, but more because of injury concerns. He basically missed all of last season after appearing in 14 games as a rookie. The Rams ranked 25th in the league in rushing offense, averaging only 99 yards, and it’s crucial Akers delivers in his third year — especially if Stafford is limited.

Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl 57 Chances

There’s never outstanding value on a defending Super Bowl champion. The Rams are among the favorites once again but even at their low-ish odds, many would consider them a pretty solid value. The roster is close to what it was in February and the backfield can’t be as troubled as 2021. This all comes down to Stafford’s health.

DimersBOT: The model give Los Angeles a 9.0% chance of winning the Super Bowl, which is rather high. You can do a lot worse than backing the Rams to repeat.
