NBA Sixth Man of the Year Picks
6MOY favorite - Tyler Herro
Why he will win it:
After suffering from Second Year Blues last season, Tyler Herro has got back to his NBA Bubble form, and then taken it to another level again.
With per game averages of 20.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists, Herro is putting together one of the best season's off the bench that we;ve seen in years, with higher numbers in all of those stats than last year's runaway winner, Jordan Clarkson.
Couple that with the fact that the Heat are the one seed in the East, and you have yourself a very likely winner of the Most Improved Player award.
P.S. Shooting Guards have won 15 of the 17 years.
What might stop him:
There's seemingly not much that can stop a guy whose odds are as short as -1150, but there is one thing that could halt his sprint to the finish line: his knee.
Herro has missed 11 total games this season, including four of the last five. If he remains out post-All-Star break, or even suffers another injury soon, the door will very much open up for guys like Kelly Oubre Jr. and Kevin Love.
Suggestion: Odds are too short to bet right now.
6MOY threats - Kelly Oubre Jr., Kevin Love
As you can see up above, the next shortest odds for this award are +2700, which is honestly pretty crazy with a third of the season to go.
Both Oubre and Kevin Love have been solid off the bench this season, with their three-point shooting helping their respective teams throughout the season.
If Herro is to miss another 10-15 games, talk will ramp up for both of these guys to win the award, with Kevin Love a serious chance in particular if the Cavs can maintain their current fourth spot in the standings.
Suggestion: Sprinkle on Love and Oubre.
