Embiid has thrived in his role as the undisputed alpha dog for the 76ers this season, heading to the All-Star break on an historic scoring run to solidify himself as the MVP favorite. While Harden - a former MVP himself - certainly knows how to dish a dime, it's only natural that he will eat into some of the points production of Embiid. There's no doubt that the 76ers get stronger with James Harden in the team, but it will dilute some of the attention the Cameroonian has been getting.

MVP threat - Giannis Antetokounmpo

We wrote about Giannis at the beginning of the year as our top pick and we're not wavering. Antetokounmpo has broken through the voter fatigue that comes with being a multiple time winner and looks primed for a second half assault. Just behind Embiid as the leading scorer on 29.4 points, if the Bucks surge up the Eastern Conference standings, the Greek Freak will be the defining factor as they look to defend their NBA title. Without a doubt, he is the value play.
