La Liga Soccer Week 6 Best Bets
Barcelona vs. Elche Best Bet
Kickoff: Saturday 8:00AM ET
Barcelona will be hungry to win here after losing to Bayern Munich mid-week. Despite losing to the Germans it was actually a really good performance for the majority of the game, with Barcelona going in to halftime as the best team and they would have had a lead if Robert Lewandowski converted his chances.
Under Xavi it’s clear that there’s been huge improvement in Barcelona, and although they’re not quite at the level of Real Madrid just yet, they really aren’t that far off. They have an easy game here as they welcome Elche to the Camp Nou. Elche have only scored two goals all season, conceding 13. I’m expecting Barcelona to keep them out there, their defense is too strong and Lewandowski will do what he does best and score, adding to his tally of six goals after just five games.

Villarreal vs. Sevilla Best Bet
Kickoff: Sunday 10:15AM ET
Sevilla are another side who had a bad time in European competition during the week, only managing a tie against FC Copenhagen. In truth, it matches their domestic form with Julen Lopetegui’s team only winning one game in La Liga so far this season.
That is unlikely to improve on the road against a Villarreal team who look really good having already racked up three wins and 10 points in their first five games. Unai Emery has his team playing well and crucially defending brilliantly, giving up just one goal all season in La Liga.
These odds aren’t very favorable but this feels like a solid bet regardless.

Atletico Madrid vs. Real Madrid Best Bet
Kickoff: Sunday 3:00PM ET
It’s time for this season’s first installment of El Derbi Madrileño, the derby between Atletico Madrid and hated rivals Real Madrid. This game takes place on Atletico’s home turf, the Metropolitano Stadium.
Despite their status of being the third best club in Spain over the past decade this is far from being a vintage Atletico Madrid team They enter the weekend sat seventh, with 10 points, tied with Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao. They’ve scored nine, which is impressive at first but compared with the 15 scored by Real Madrid it shows the gulf in class.
I’m expecting Real Madrid to start their best players in this one, with no need to rest given that next week is the start of a two-week international break. For that reason I’m expecting a demolition by Los Blancos, even with Karim Benzema missing. A front three of Eden Hazard, Vinicius Jr and Federico Valverde will cause them problems. The +140 on a Real Madrid win is tempting enough but I’d like to gamble and go a little longer, taking Real Madrid -1 on the handicap at +375.
BET: Real Madrid -1 (+375 at Caesars)
