Home Run Predictions, Props & Parlay for MLB Thursday [6/1/23]

There are only eight MLB games on today but that's no reason to keep us from betting on home runs! We're attacking the night slate with our MLB Home Run Parlay for Thursday, June 1. Today's parlay features players from the Twins vs. Astros and Red Sox vs. Reds games as we compare our MLB predictions data against the sportsbook lines to try and determine where we might have an edge over the 'books. Thursday MLB Parlay Analysis

Red Sox vs. Reds, 7:10PM ET

LEG 1: Rafael Devers 1+ HR (+310) with BetMGM

Rafael Devers was neck-and-neck with the league's HR leaders throughout the month of April but has settled down a bit in May. He hit just three last month to bring his season total to 13, and his last came when he hit a pair on May 19th. His HR slump has coincided with a major skid by the Red Sox, who have dropped their last seven games in a row. They'll be looking to salvage this series with the Reds tonight, powered by the 33% chance given to Devers by our model.

He gets a matchup with Reds starter Hunter Greene, who is Cincinnati's closest thing to an ace. Where he's vulnerable, however, is exactly what we're looking for. He's in the bottom 25% of the league in Barrels, HardHit% and Avg Exit Velocity, which all bode well for home runs. He allowed at least one home run (seven total) in every May start but his most recent.

Astros vs. Angels, 8:10PM ET

LEG 2: Yordan Alvarez 1+ HR (+310) with BetMGM

We head to Houston for an AL West showdown and another slugger with a 33% home run probability from DimersBOT. Alvarez has 13 home runs on the year with eight of them coming last month. He has as much home run power as any player in the league and he gets a fair pitching matchup with the Halos' Reid Detmers.

Detmers is a fine pitcher but doesn't sport any magical stuff that should stun Alvarez at the dish. We get a significant 8.7% edge in the odds against the books and +310 is the best price available, giving us the most +EV at BetMGM.
