Thursday MLB Parlay Analysis

Cardinals vs. Reds, 12:35PM ET

LEG 1: Tommy Edman 1+ HR (+630) with DraftKings
LEG 2: Nolan Arenado 1+ HR (+300) with DraftKings

The Cardinals have been popular picks among bettors and our model over recent weeks and with good reason, ranking 5th in the MLB for most long balls hit so far this season. They get a blessed pitching matchup today with Luke Weaver (1-2, 6.54 ERA) on the mound for the Reds. Weaver has been erratic at times this season, giving up home runs in four of his six starts this season, with three of those games having given up two or three. That's music to the ears of this St. Louis team who were humbled yesterday as Cincinnati won 10-3.

One man who hasn't hit a home run in well over a week but is hitting some nice form is Tommy Edman. Edman has now notched two consecutive games with a hit which should be all the confidence he needs to slug one over the fence in Cincy today. Our model has a 3.3% edge on the sportsbook odds of +800.

Finally, Nolan Arendo is the second man of our two-leg Cards parlay, due for a big afternoon against Weaver. Like Edman, Arenado has been a little quiet over the past week and has failed to register a hit this series. Despite that, the big hitter has been adept at dealing with the fastball and changeup this season with some decent batting averages against the two types of throws. Those are Luke Weaver's two go-to balls, and with a tough start for the year for him already, our model is expecting things to get a lot tougher here with Arenado rated as one of our most likely home run hitters of the day at an edge of 6.5% against the 'books.
