Santander has been one of the more reliable hitters in all of baseball this season, totaling 14 home runs on the year. It was no more than a week ago that Santander homered in three consecutive games, so he has demonstrated the ability to get hot and stay hot quickly as a long bomb hitter. And that bodes well today because...

He faces Sonny Gray, who is one of the better pitchers in the sport, but that has been no matter to Santander in the past. Santander has homered once already in just five career at bats facing Gray. It's coming up on 48 hours since Shohei Ohtani last scored a home run, and that is very bad news for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ohtani's stellar form throughout June has been well documented, but July got off to a rough start with a 0-4 night last night in the Halos' loss. Bad days are few and far between for the Japanese phenom at the moment, however, rarely going 2+ games without a dinger. He faces a match up against starting Diamondbacks pitcher Zac Gallen. The Arizona ace has given up a home run in each of his last five starts and relies heavily on the fastball, accounting for almost every second ball he pitches; music to the ears of the Angels slugger who has been crushing that ball this season, batting at a .343 avg vs. the fastball with 13 home runs.
