Home Run Predictions, Props & Parlay for MLB Monday [6/12/2023]

A new week begins and we're looking to keep our hot form rolling after hitting two HR parlays last week with our MLB Home Run Parlay for Monday, June 12. Tonight's parlay features players from the Reds vs. Royals and Angels vs. Rangers games as we compare our MLB predictions data against the sportsbook lines to try and determine where we might have an edge over the 'books. Monday MLB Parlay Analysis

Angels vs. Rangers - 8:05PM EST

LEG 1: Josh Jung 1+ HR (+340) with BetMGM

We're rocking with a pair of rookies tonight, who could both be hoisting some Rookie of the Year hardware come awards season. We start with Josh Jung, who is the co-favorite for AL ROY at +250. The young stud has 13 homers already this year, notching six in April and six in May. He's got just one through the first two weeks of June so he is more than due and gets a 32% chance from our model to hit a home run tonight. That's the highest probability in this game behind Corey Seager, but Jung gets a nice 10% edge in the odds.

Tyler Stephenson (5.62 ERA) takes the mound for the Halos. Andeson allowed six home runs in his first five starts but has settled down since, giving up one in May and none in his lone June start. Anderson isn't the kind of pitcher to give up a ton of homers, but he's not one who should be going a full month without allowing a single dinger either. His 5.62 ERA is no fluke, he just hasn't been hammered for homers lately. A matchup with a powerful Rangers lineup is the type of counter we need, and we like the chances for Jung as provided by our model.

Reds vs. Royals - 8:10PM EST

LEG 2: Elly De La Cruz 1+ HR (+575) with BetMGM

Sensational! That's the only word to describe Elly De La Cruz's first week in the big leagues. It has truly been a "Welcome to The Show" kind of start for De La Cruz, having notched a hit in all six games he's played so far. He cranked his first career home run in just his second start, an absolute piss-missile of a shot, tracked at 114.8 MPH off the bat, traveling 458 feet. That is not a typo. The kid is strong, has elite speed and a good eye at the plate, drawing five walks to go with his eight hits. He gets a 24% chance to go yard tonight from our model, and a healthy 9% +EV in his odds.

He draws a matchup with Royals old-head Zack Greinke. Ironically, Greinke's strongest trait this year is limiting walks, something SDe La Cruz has excelled at so far. Good thing he's given up 11 home runs, however, and that's what we're looking for tonight. While most of those home runs came in the first month of the season, Greinke hasn't shown much improvement in the metrics, meaning the opportunities are there and Kaufmann Stadium has its highest HR park factor since 2003.
