It's a good thing that the Cleveland Guardians nabbed some pitching depth on the waiver wire this week, because it will help solve the problem that they have with today's starter in Xzavion Curry. The right-hander has been a bit all over the place this season, coming only pitching more than three innings three times in his last 10 starts on the mound. Last time out against the Twins, he was wayward, giving up 6 ER and a dinger on August 28. He will be given one more chance in what is expected to be another cameo, but not before the Tampa Bay hitters sink their teeth in.

Our model likes Arozarena in this spot to take advantage of the by-committee pitching approach. The slugger has been in some nice touch over the past two weeks, recording hits in nine of his last 10 games with two home runs in that span. He'll be in amongst the home run chances again this afternoon with our home run predictor detecting a 5.7% edge on his home run odds.

This has been an epic weekend series so far between two World Series contenders - one that the Braves have had the better of, but don't discount the Dodgers to make one last charge this afternoon in the Los Angeles heat. Charlie Morton will be on the bump for Atlanta - a man that former Brave Freddie Freeman knows very well. Freeman has mashed Morton when in opposing colors with three home runs and 10 hits from 18 career ABs. The Dodgers need a response today and Freeman is primed to provide it.
